Default trying to get started, need help

I'm wanting to go the hydro route but I haven't figured out what system I'm wanting to use. my space is kinda limited except vertically. its about 8 foot by 2 1/2 foot by 2 foot. is there any systems I can grow multiple plants in this area or should I just go for one really big one?
