Hi everyone. This is my first grow and the grow room i have set up. What ya think?

Im a newbie to growing but have quite a good knowledge of growing through my research over the last 6 months. I recently (2days ago) planted a mix of 24 clones. PPP, white russian and armageddon. I am uploading some pics after i have finished writing this thread so you can see the room.

My set up from start:

Room size 2.5m by 2.5m, Covered wall and half raised floor in black and white pvc, Ceiling done in reflective foil pvc. I have a 5" carbon filter connected eight inch from the ceiling with hooks and chain, this is connected to 5" exhaust fan at the same hight from ceiling and this is all connected to 5" foil duct exiting the room to the attic, where i followed the duck up to a corner to exit the property near the chimney pipe to hide any heat and smell.

Then i have installed 2 x 4" fans to the oppersit corner of the ceiling and attached a T tube to split the fresh air coming in, 4" duct's follows down to ether side of the proposed bedding site in the room. thus giving constant fresh air to the plants at the correct hight.

I placed 2 x 600w lights at equal places above the bedding site and have attatched these to my ceiling with hooks and adjustable chains for ease of movement above the plants. I have also put up a shelf behind, but above the lighting system near the carbon filter so i can put the ballast for each light on so that the exhaust takes out most of the heat, as i understand they get quite hot.

All the wiring has been fixed to the walls with wire connecters and i have also used timer switches for the control of light and air, so that everything is neat and tucked away. I put in a fire alarm too. just for my own peace of mind.

ok some about my plants and planting system.

I decided to start my first grow in coco professional and to use CANNA products to feed. was quite costly but im hoping it will be worth it. Anyway first i potted up the 7.5liter pots with 1-2" of clay pellets then toped that up with 3" coco mixed with silverlight then another inch of clay pellet and then 3 more inch of the Coco mix. this filled the pots to the correct high and will hopefully give the plants air whilst keeping in moisture.

After this i put in my 60liter container and filled with tap water to 30liter, i have tested and corrected the Ph level and put in the first mixtures of feed that were recommended for that amount of water ( the first mix was at half strength). Whils't i did this i potted all my clones up and gave them there first feed of around 500ml each.

I am going to keep a diary and update it on here. I will also take photos of my little baby's week by week as they grow and post them.

If there is anything that could help me then please let me know as this is my first grow and any of your info would be much appreciated. ( yes im a bit geeky ) but isnt every1 in there own little way.

Thanks siccmade, i'll try to keep a good update diary. The baby's look well this morning. think they are taking to the coco as they are all perky and stood well. think i will keep in veg for 3-4 week then put them into flower. p.s more photos and i will update some more shortly...

Looks fine. Needs more duct tape though and is this a disco ball by ur can filter??

What a lovely and safe grow room.fantasic.It took me a year to make my grow room this much safe. just be carefull about condensed water drops from fresh air ducts.sometimes they cause some electric problems .

I just forgot to say If you are using clone then Call your babies your Girls since they are female already.arent they?

lol thanks Fuzzo i will put some more tape on today. I have now named the room (((DISCO))) because of your comment about my light. maybe i should stick a small radio in there to keep the girls happy, what about drum and bass. naaaaaah more like kasabian or kings of leon...... brilliant.

Thanks Satica, yeah they should be all (girls) as i sourced them from a good friend. but i will keep check on em just incase. oh yeah and thanks for the lingo. school boy error...lol

Oh yeah i forgot to ask, im thinking of getting a 5liter Co2 bottle to put in there. Has any1 used Co2 who could explain the correct way for use. I here that it could possibly increase yield, but could also cause bud rot or mold. would love to know and any info would be much appreciated.

i would like to congatulate u on what appears to be a great setup. personally i think 22 clones are alot for a noob grower. i started my first grow with seeds and only grew 2 plants and with these 2 plants i have had lots of little problems to rectify ( nute lock, pests etc) one piece of advice is be careful of built up salts using COCO . one thing all noobs forget about is pest management, start early by using sticky traps blues and yellows. if yo get thrips there are 2 predators that are great they are predatory nematodes and hypoaspis miles. around 20 to 40 GBP

ahahahaha....i play drum and bass and dubstep for my girls.
it doesnt sound as intense when the volume is lower.

co2 is good.
its how your babes turn the light into usable energy.
you want to use it during 12/12 for the most part.
for vegging i like to spray sparkling water on the babes in the day.

if you decide to use the c02 you will want to run your co2 lines kinda high.
like the top of the canopy because co2 is heavier than air and will sink and it will be not as usefull if your lines are at soil level.

you can get a ppm reader for co2.
i keep it at about 500 all throughout.
some people like to do 3 or 400 at first couple weeks and little by little crank it to 8-1200 by week 6.

its all in what works for you and what you like. you will get the swing of things.

are you just doing this one time or are you trying to do a purpetual grow?



you have a nice setup.

this is very similar to mine.

another thing i forgot to mention, with co2, if you ever come across any pests or insects, you crank it to 1500ppm for about 2 or 3 minutes and your bugs will die.


someone said 20+ plants is too much for a noobie.
if you're confident in your research than do it.
the only thing that will suck is usuaully if you have something occuring to one plant, it will occur to the rest because they are going thru the same conditions, so chances are if you lose one, you might lose them all or close to all.

but i'm optimistic.
if you have some indicas you can easily throw 10 plants in 12/12 every 3 weeks if you have it seperated by veg and bloom and harvest 10 every 3 weeks after the first 50 days or so.

Yeah i have to watch the nutes, i realise that over nutrition can be very bad and under nutrition can cause significant under growth or worse. I have a an EC on the way and also i have just purchased Ph wand or whatever they call em. so i will defo watch the dosage. What exactly are the blue and yellow sticky traps.

On the air intake above the room i have 4" semi rigid duct and attatched to this i have cut tights to go over this ensuring no creepy crawlies or airborne flies get into the room. but i would like to know more about any unexpected problems that may arise.

Yeah this will be my first grow of many i think. all being well.

I have recently bought a smaller tent so that i can grow my own clones from a mothership plant, i have done some research but i'm not going to do this for another 3-4 week's. Do you think that i would be better growing from seed to get my own mother or would 1 of the clones i have planted do. before they go into flower?

well this totally depends on the kind of strain you are looking for.
but there is nothing wrong with keeping one or a couple of your existing clones as a mother.
thats what i do.

i havent introduced any seeds to my rooms just because i want to ensure females and dont want to take the time to sex them.

but if you are going to keep a mom, i suggest making a little aero cloner with some pvc piping and a 15-20 gallon tote.
its cheap and easy and you get the most clones.

the next best thing for me besides aero cloning is jiffy starter plugs. these also work well it just takes a bit longer to root.

Thanks mate. Im quite a martiqulas person ((( OCD ))) lol, when it comes to building anything and want it to be to a (high) standard. Im going to keep everything i do updated on here on a week to week basis so you can see how i come along as a newbie. From build to toking the final produce. I may also introduce my new small grow tent at week 3-4 and use 2 to become mothers.

good idea on the small grow tent for mothers, im doing that myself, germing seeds all the time is a slow process(and expensive). im sticking around
