Its not long, it just looks long, please please please read. I really really need help. OK, so i had 2 1000w HPS in a 4x8x8 room. They just had the regular old metal "wing" reflectors on them. We had fans on either side blowing at the lights then 2 box fans just blowing air. No exhuast or intake...we were just testing to see. Anyways, in a matter of minutes the temp was up to 110 and rising every second. We decided we only needed 1 light. But my QUESTION IS...those reflectors that you put a exhaust and duct work and all that on there...about how much would that drop the temp? That sucks all the heat away from the light before it even gets into the room right? Someone please help, i need to drop the temp alot and quick. Has anyone had this problem with that reflector then switched to a vented reflector and how much did it cool off. Short of adding a AC unit in the wall how else can i get rid of that heat. And if i do need an AC unit how big do i need for a 4x8x8...a 5000btu. Please help me out.

WHEN you suck air outta the room.... the new air that COME in... will be the ROOM temperature... so where will that air come from?
that is your new temp.. it would be great to EXHAUST the LIGHTS directly....but even if you exhaust just the room and keepthe fans blowing, it will CHANGE your grow room temperature to the temperature outside the room... GET a GREAT fantech exhaust fan.. and NOW you KNOWM |

damn, that's a shame... i don't know if this forum can help you lol
seriously, invest in a couple cool tubes, vent it with outside air, add a small ac unit (it'll help keep humidity down, too)- use both 1000 watters, and grow the fuckin bejesus outta some ghanja!!!!!!

got my 2 600 watters in the ultra cool xl sealed relector hooked up to a can fan and boy do they stay cool. i can touch the glass right by the bulb and its not to hoot. def they way to go is to vent your lights. just transplanted into their new system today. thats why they look a little funky. but they have perked right up now.

Can you explain to me how the duct and cool reflecters work? Do you have the duct hooked up to an AC then put it around the light and blow it out the other end? Or does the room temp air come in the hole and you have a fan that blows it through the lamps then the long duct brings the air somewhere else?

your second theory is correct. at the end of the ducting on the left side i have a brand new Can fan. its an inline fan that does wonders at sucking air. currently i have it just exhausting back into the room cause its pulling so much air all the time it doesnt matter cause the room never gets above 80 degrees. i am thinking about leaving the front of the side open cause the a/c vent is shooting right to that area and thats just more co2 in the whole roiom for them to use. i can duct my lights to the attic if i need to. i just havent got that far yet cause everything is working fine right now. if i venture in to the land of co2 generation i will enclose the area and duct into the attic.

nah its at the end of the ducting. inline fans are good at sucking air. not pushing. my plastic on the wall on the side of the open hood is like always pulled off the wall like its trying to suck into the hood lol
