just wondering how do i make the plants grow more out then up, trying not to have anything to tall...

can't you tie down the leaves or something like that?

You'll rip the leaves off.
Just bend the branches. Not near the stalk but, towards the ends of the branches, use one finger and just press it down a bit.
I did this to mine and all the branches now stick out and the ends are now growing upwards but, away from the plant.
