Rain water is very acidic from all the pollution. (High PH) Try using filtered or distilled water; Room temperature...
If you can, find a PH tester and see what it is.

what kind of soil r u using?
and r u useing any nutes
if so stop that looks like a young plant not even a week old
and 2 inches is ok not 4 away from plant
dont feed until its like 3 1/2 weeks old or so first couple weeks they have enough to servive from the seed and life
hit me let me know
ow ya if that soil is marical grow then there u have it the prob is there.
