Thread: Need help with CFL bulb

Hello all !! I just started my 1st grow and grabbed sum lights at home depot they are lights of america Fluorex 42 watts but it wont turn on when i plug the lights in is this because the bulb needs a different socket ? or its not enough juice any help would be great here's a picture Thanks again !

Its model number 9142b , color 6500k ,CRI: 80 it says on the box for use with 42 watt fluorescent fixture including lights of america fixtures and thats about it they screw right in i don't know ????

I got the same one a few months back at HD and I also could not get to turn on.. I believe that on the box it says you need a special fixture/ballast for those to turn on. I just took mine back and got me a giant 68watt(15$) cfl that will work with regular sockets or you could get a 42watt(10$) at wal mart that also works with regular sockets.

Thats your answer you need to buy a fixture that works with that bulb(thats why I stayed away from these)

Yeah I went and looked this afternoon 32 $ for the fixture for them ill wait on those but I was able to get my other 4 hooked up they seem to like them they look like there growing very fast just the leaves though ? is that normal ? I have the bulb as close as I an get them 1 inch maybe

Yes its normal theyre not stretching because they dont need to since you have the light very close you will get shorter bushier plants.. looking good
