Running a 400 watt ballast with a high pressure sodium bulb and circulating on a 120 volt outlet , Would there be any risk of a fire starting i notice the light and ballast getting very hot , ive never used one of these light before and would like to know i could sleep at night lol .

you shouldn't have to worry about a 400w starting a fire, it can, but it's very doubtful, just make sure you have enough space in your grow area.
