I reacently realized after all this time thinking of where to grow a couple plants and after my dad found my first grow box which was a tricked out dressor (my fan gave it away, getting some silent fans this time). ok so here it is. i live in an attic room, in like the pitched like part of the house like so A, in the top of the a if you can picture this a roof, the very top of the house. my walls that run parallel with the house, parrellel to the bottom of the roof are 3 feet tall. i never thought much of what was behind them untell i was working on another project where i got behind this space and it shouted "grow here" at fist site. so what im going to do is cut out a section of the wall and cut out secret opening by going along the seems of the wood pannel that line my wall, and with alittle plywood, create a growbox big enough for 2 plants.
The problem is the space, its an awkward space shaped like a box with a corner cut off if your looking at it from the side. and i wasnt sure on the exact dimenstions i should make it. one 3-dimensional example of how much space i have is: 3feet high to 20 inches high (the slope of the roof) 26 inches wide and 26 inches deep with a 150 hps in a cool tube. Should i make this wider ? deeper? how should i fire proof this? uluminum?

Yeah i am and holy shit thats a reall good point to bring up because i was debating over wich side of my room to do this and i was leaning toward the side farthest away from the kitchen and living room in my house to get the smell and noise of fans far away as possible witch is also the side that faces the road. I wouldnt of thought of that. props man peace

I have been studying this and other sites for several months and I have read a SOG book and many Scrog posts. I have a pretty solid understanding of the respective methods, however, I have not seen much regarding height req's.

I am trying to decide between SOG and Scrog. My needs are modest, and I am looking for a reasonable compromise between resource efficiency (max yield/space) and simplicity.

I will be starting from seeds, but then I hope to have a supply of clones. SOG appeals to me for two reasons:

1) I have read, and it makes sense, that the top cola is the most potent - that the secondary buds in a Scrog are not as potent as the primary(ies).

2) It seems like there is a lot of maintenance req'd in Scrog (pulling the branches down below the screen, etc.).

Height will be my biggest constraint - it would be great if I can keep it to 36" interior cab height. I will be using a 150w HPS in the flower area including a 4 foot flourescent fixture that will run up the slope of the roof. I have worked on designing skate ramps and shit so im confident i can construct a nice little box

I need to know how much space is required for plant growth in SOG vs Scrog. In other words, from the top of the hydro unit, how much space will the plant require? I will start with bag seed for my first grow

I also need to know how much of a light gap is req'd for a 150w HPS (distance between the plant tops to the bottom of the reflector). All I have read is you need to be able to hold your hand comfortably under the light just above the tops. An actual measurement or range would be more helpful to us newbies.



I am open to suggestions. I just need to get these answers so I can move fwd. I know I will have to make some changes as I go, but, I would prefer to get it as right as possible the first time.

So what is the pros and cons of sog vs scrog? i could lean some sogs up the slant of the roof in my set up or i could run a wire mesh up parrellel and do the scrog. i have a couple questions before i decide on my design for my grow spave

How small can i keep my plants using the sog method and what are the steps that can be taken to small, compact single coled plants?

would one 150 watt hps be suitible for two plants under the scrog method considering the wide canopies this method has? Should i add my 24 " t5 fixture to this method?

whick method can produce more buds?

any help figuring the best method for my space and unique set up would be aesome

Yeah, i was just checking them out on the web, they look like really cool starters for small spaces. I would buy some seeds for sure, they would be perfect for my space, fucking perfect, but the shity thing is, once you pay around 30 50 dollars for the seeds, you cant clone the fuckers, that would be a waist for me since im so low on cash so im going to stick to some bag seed for now
