I was just thinking to myself and it popped into my head can you start 12/12 and keep your eye on the plant antil it shows sex then put it back to 24/0 or 18/6 and veg it more or once it starts flower it will stay in flower. And if you can do this if it shows female and you put it back in veg will it still be a female when you start 12/12 again. Thanks I will give rep.

Yes you can do this but it will shock the plants. If you have already done this and identified which is female then you can reveg and once it starts growing again take some clones. This way on your next go around you already know you have females and do not have to change to 12/12 then back thus stressing and making the plant take couple weeks to snap out of it. Its better to learn to identify sex before flowering or cloning your females so you know what you have, but the light dictates what stage the plant is in and yes you can flower/re veg/flower as long as you dont have an autoflowering strain

i have read that jumping the photoperiod or night day cycle will cause hermaphrodites. also, i read that it takes 4 weeks for a seedling on 12/12 from the start to show any signs of flowering, then when you see that it is female you flip lights and it will take 2 or 3 weeks to completely start the vegitive state, by the end of all this you could have let it veg and there would have already been some bottom branches to clone and keep the bigger one as a mother for now and let it get bigger then when you finally flower it, it will produce a larger yield, the bigger the plant the larger the yield, but all in all i do believe that would work, 12/12 until it flowers then back to veg, i would veg it for a long time maybe 2 months after it completly veges out again to space out the stress points from converting from flower to veg then back to flower i think its interesting.

i was going to 12/12 from seed because of height limitations i cant let them get big enough to take clones or i will run out of room. I have 7 plants in party cups if i get lucky and get 3-5 females then I will just leave them in 12/12 until harvest but if i only get 1-2 females i want to re-veg so they can get bigger. I dont wont to flower just 1 or 2 plants from seed because I wont get enough bud to even be worth the trouble i could get in with the law. If i do get 1 or 2 I will Top them to get multiple cola then LST to keep them under control and get the highest yeild I can get with my limited space if you know what I mean please throw some ideas of what i could do or what i should do. Oh yea this is a cfl grow I have 1 24" 2 tube flourescent fixture with one warm white one cold white, also have 5 26w(100w equivalent) CFLs and 1 42w(150w equivalent) with a space of 2ft deep, 2ft tall, and 3ft wide. The flourescent fixture takes 4-6 inches off my height of grow space.

what you should not do is attempt all of this in cups. The plant size is determined by how far away you keep the lights for a big part. You dont want to burn them but you want to come as close as you can and force them to grow stout and thick instead of long and skinny. YOu should read up on scrog method, you can keep the plant as short as you want and get a nice solid blanket of buds just under the light

I was considering screen of green I am not a noob this is not my first grow this was just something i have never tried and wanted to know if it was possible. Also i keep my lights 2-3 inches away from plants this way they dont burn and they are not being stretched out.

If you can LST or have room to transplant to 1 gallon containers then you can grow them large enough to take clones. You always have room if you LST.
