hey guys...another newbie here. I am a first time hydro grower, at least attempting to anyway. I am using sunleaves garden of ease and use GH 2 part nutes(grow and bloom). I use sunleaves vitalume 300w cfl. Right now I am using bc kush seeds. My first grow was going really well in veg, I had 4 plants that were looking great. I was on the 18/6 light for 7-8 weeks and then flipped to 12/12. When I flipped I left the nutes as they were and added 1/4 strength bloom, within a day they were wilting. I flushed them and added just water, in a weeks time they were gone. I fucked up somehow and before I try this again I need some help.....thanks

Hi bongspit,
I'm no expert so don' t take this as gospel but... I think there are two common ways to switch the nutes when you switch the lights: method 1: Switch lights to 12/12, continue with veg-stage nutes for 1-2 weeks (no bloom), then switch to low strength bloom nutes (3-400 PPM) method 2: Switch lights to 12/12, switch to low strength bloom nutes (3-400 PPM) I think the key here is when you switch to bloom nutes, start at 3-400 PPM for the first few days to a week. I think growers use method 1 if they want the plant to grow some more before focusing on budding. Also, your description sounds like you added extra bloom to your current veg nutes - that might have been a mistake. I believe you should clean out the reservoir before switching nutes and use low-strength nutes (3-400 PPM) when you switch. Where there any other signs of nutrient burn/deficiencies? |

welcome to the forum. wow, never heard of anything that killed plants that fast. There isn't that much difference in the nutes. I have seen how quickly algea can affect plants by the time you notice it. What were you doing for algae control?? VV

I had not noticed any algae, as they were growing I flushed every 2 weeks and had not seen any algae...

Doesn't to be in the res. It can form in the pots if you don't cover them. Flushing will not kill algae. Not saying that was the problem, just odd for 1/4 strength bloom nutes to kill a plant. Kinda stumped, looking for clues. VV

Sounds to me like you may have overwatered them slightly saw them wilt and then panicked.
You over compensated and all the things you did ended up killing the plants. It's not down to the nutes its probably just down to the fact its your first grow. When you start again, do a journal and we'll all check in on it and make sure you get to the finish line

I have used the Garden of Ease with no success. Did you use an extra pump and did you run the pump 24/7 or use a timer? if you got all the way to flower you did better than me so don't feel to bad. (I'm using soil now.)

I used the pump that came with the setup and ran the pump 18/6 same as lights. The only thing I added was an air pump which I ran 24/7.
