i started this thread for all first time aerogarden growers who may have some of the same questions that i have. i have learned the best aerogarden to get is one that has at least 3 lights included in the kit, like the veggiepro i just purchased.
the height and lighting are very important. i also recommend you get the aerogarden master gardner growing kit. this kit emables you to plant your own seeds. HERE IS A QUESTION I NEED ANSWERED. WHAT SETTING IS BEST TO PUT YOUR LIGHTS ON? the included guide is not very helpful. is it herb,salad,flowers,liveplants,vegetables?does anyone have the answer? also should you use the pill nutrients that come with the kit? im a first timer ,perhaps like you. lets get this thread going. any and all help is greatly appreciated.

You choose, u can put it on 24hrs/day, I went with 18 on / 6 off. My wife dropped one of those nute tabs in without killin anyone, the roots grew super fast and I had to transplant out. Good luck, that light is only good for a couple of weeks growth.

You can leave your plants in the AG for as long as you'd like but having any more than one or two in the ag will definitely reduce the growth rates. Try growing just 2 in your AG. Maybe even just one, but you can grow the entire cycle in your AG's

thanks but,,,what setting is best ? as i mentioned above, the aerogarden has these settings for herbs, salad, vegatables etc. which one gives 18/6 ?

Try and find a figure 8 cord (e.g. radioshack if possible). That will separate your lights from the AG, allowing you to use a separate timer you can set yourself.

I would recommend 18/6.

AG Guide

I don't own one, but you grow cannabis like you grow tomatoes. Go for the vegetable setting. The herb setting would be like for basil or pepper. Long lights (summer), but less water. The salad is for lettuce and carrots which are winter crops. They need less light, more water, and a colder area. The vegetable setting is the only one that makes sense.

thanks buds,i guess the veg setting makes sence, ive only got 5 female seeds(lowryders), i think ill just replace a seed into the tomato pod about a centimetre down,put in a half a nut pill that came with the kit and cross my balls it
works or do you think i should germ it in a papertowel first?

Either way will work fine, whatever you're comfortable with.

ITS THURSDAY,NOV 26TH,
I JUST RECEIVED MY JOINT DOCTORO LOW RYDER 5 FEMALE SEEDS (WAHOO!!!) AND IM GOING TO TRY THE FIRST ONE WITHOUT GERMINATING IT. I TOOK OUT THE TOMATO SEED THAT CAME WITH THE POD IN THE KIT,REPLACED IT WITH THE WEED SEED,SHOVED IT DOWN A CENTIMETER,FILLED AG WITH BOTTLED WATER, PUT THE AG ON THE VEGETABLE SETTING . I ALSO WENT TO THE HARDWARESTORE GOTA SOLAR EMERGENCY BLANKET TO WRAP AROUND THE AG,,,WAY BETTER THAN TINFOIL, THE MATERIAL MYLAR REALLY PROJECTS LIGHT.
ILL KEEP YA ALL POSTED ON RESULTS.

Its working,however i think i made the mistake of planting the seed to close to the surface. The root has pushed the seed out of the pod. Is this ok?? Anyhow, if you plan on planting seeds in your ag without germinating first,manually shut ag lights off for the first 12 hours. It really speeds things up.
