My first grow, and the problems and progress i had

Well here i am a newbie grower that used bag seeds as practice before i move on to my white widow strain. I germinated 11 bag seeds and 11 have cracked and i severely stretched them due to the fact it took longer than expected to get my 250w HPS/MH set to come in, so i used 2 100watt desk lamps. So my first 3 weeks after the seeds have been planted they started to yellow a bit and were not getting bushy so i of course read up on problems and solutions and found that they had a Nitrogen problem, not enough at all since i had plain potting soil that i mixed in my own perlite with. So no nutes in there whatsoever. So i add a teaspoon per gallon to the water of my 30-10-10 plant food and BOOM! life took off and they blew up like a bush. The yellowing faded mostly and they are green and fat leaves. Now i come to find out that since i have 30-10-10 i have to feed 2 times a month since it is very rich in Nitrogen and water every other day with 8oz of distilled water with a neutral PH. I will post pics from what they looked like and how they came back bigger and badder after the food was mixed in the water. Look below and tell me what you think and please add some pointers and tips to help me be a better grower.
