I found a box filled with light bulbs today at my work, I decided to take one when I seen the box say "400w Metal Halide" on it. It's my step fathers business & he screws me all the time so I don't really feel bad for taking it. The light bulbs are used to light up a warehouse, I have reason to believe that this light is a metal halide but I'm not 100% sure because there were two different looking bulbs inside the box. They had a couple of loose boxes from the light bulbs floating around in the box so I took that as well to help me identify what type it is. The box has on it "GE Multi-Vapor Lamp" & " 400 watt, Order Code: 42828, MVR400/U, Ballast/Fix: M59/S". So I went to http://gelighting.com and tried to locate the light bulb buy the order code, nothing came up so I did a search on google and I located the light. Just my luck they light bulb I have doesn't match the box I took, but the bulb is shaped somewhat similar but the one that I have has a white coating on the inside of it and the shout of the bulb is a little shorter. Here is a picture of the light bulb that matched the box.

Here are some pictures of my light bulb, please help me figure out if I can use this bulb or not.
Also on the last picture there is writing on the bulb that you can't really make out in the picture, I can barely make it out but from what I can read it appears to say "DAMAN" in big letters and under that it looks like it says "h37kc25" & I think there is a T behind it but I'm not sure. I googled it and came up with nothing but I did get a bunch of results for DAMAN, is this a brand of lightbulb?

Yeah, I kinda figured it would be a Metal Halide but how can I tell what the wattage is on the bulb? I haven't got a chance to hook it up to my XtraSun AC Reflector because I haven't bought a ballast yet, plan to pick one up this weekend. I heard that different types of bulbs give out different color lights. Is it possible to figure out the wattage by the way the light looks? If so how..

What makes you think that using this bulb in veg stage it won't grow? Is it because of the white coating around the bulb or is it because its a Multi-Vapor Lamp?

Dont use it. Tho it is free. Get a good bulb from HTGsupply.com or your local hydro store. Bulbs lose power after hours of use. U may have 3000 lumens coming out of that thing. It should be round 45-50,000 it will use the same amount of energy also.

If it makes you feel any better I manage another warehouse for the same company & the other warehouse stole one of my lights out my warehouse a few months back. If I end up not using it I will put it in my warehouse.
