Default General Grow Setup Strategy
Hello. I am considering a first time grow here. Due to state laws, I am limited to 24 plants, so I am considering doing 2 mother plants and having the remainder clone, veg, flowering.

So, the three strains I am considering are Northern Lights, Wonderwoman, and PPP from nirvana seeds. Going for high yield, high quality here.

My thoughts are vegging all plants until height of at least 4ft tall. Then transitioning to flower.

I know it for sure it will be a hydroponic grow. However, lighting is still being decided and is somewhat dependent on this question.

How much space am I going to need considering the above factors?

4 ft? You won't get them to 4 ft in veg. You don't want them that tall before flowering because they will double in flower. If you want 4 ft plants veg to 24 inches. The NL is not a tall plant and won't get to 4 ft indoors. I know you are trying to get the most per plant but with plants that big indoors it is diminishing returns on size. Don't focus so much on the size of the plants, focus on the size of the buds!

Illegal Smile: Thanks for the insight. So in your experience, veg size to final flowering size of a plant is going to double? In that case, I think that something around what you said 2 feet, maybe a bit more in veg will work.

So, assuming I have a flowering plant of 4' - 5', how much space (space being room in a hydroponic grow box filled) would each plant require, on a conservative approach. Again, space is variable and can be made virtually anything since this is a legal grow with no need to do size, stealth, and short time. Any ideas would help here, so I can kind of get a working design on paper. From there, venture into the world of lights...ahhh..

Plants can be taller and bushier but that doesn't necessarily mean they will produce more. You kind of find strains that produce plants that are the size and shape that work for your setup. I think it is easier to work with smaller plants, especially for a beginner. I would recommend a smaller indica strain to start with, Northern Lights would be ideal. They are unlikely to get to even 3 ft at maturity, but will produce big buds.

As for space, a plant likes a whole square foot to itself. If 2 plants crowd eachother they still grow fine and since the tops are where the produce comes from, many growers are into methods of more small plants with big main colas. Space will matter because it is the total grow space or filiage area that determines how much light you need.

Illegal Smile: I see what you mean here. I appreciate the insight on the NL strain as far as user friendliness for beginners. So, aside from NL, what other strains might you suggest along the same lines.

Thanks for the one ft squared figure. That's what I was figuring on from just a general look at a ruler on the floor, but with my "high" aspirations to vegetate huge, tall plants, I was thinking it needed to be more. Back to square one on that one.
