Hi I am new to growing and need a little help. I live in long island, NY and want to know if its better to grow inside or outside. I have my own apartment and can grow inside if i have to, but would rather grow outdoors, for discretion purposes. I know the winters are too cold, but i might be able to manage summer growth outside and not have to purchase lights and equipment.
What should I do?

How will you have any security outside? I gotta agree with you on the winter being too cold though.

Do both i think that alot of people rush into growing only to be dissapointed at the end result.If you are any good at d.i.y then you have won harf the battle because you can make a unit yourself.If you are not that good a old wardrobe will do but get hold of some good lighting h.p.s are the best all rounder.I would go for a 250 this will allow you to grow two maybe 3 plants at max.The second important thing is a good exaust fan that will pull all the hot air generated by the light out of the room.Also a couple of small ossalateing fans that you can alter the height have them blowing on the light it's self this will help with air movement and keep the area cool.The second grow is alot harder than you may think the first rule is tell no one and i mean no one.Do a few reccis and find a spot that looks worthy of been a garden you want somewhere near a river.The next thing is to visit the spot at differant times of day to see witch area will get the best light.Make sure that there is plenty of other greenige around the grow area this will benifit you because the plants will be harder to find.I always look for small islands in the middle of a river these have always been good too me i had 12 plants on one this year just took them down the most i got was 2 pound of the main plant the least was 7 ounce so it was a nice harvest.But i had 2 other sites that was found so always do a few extra.I also like to visitonce a week to give them the same nutrients has the plants get indoors.But it is hard work but well worth it when you go to collect 4 bags full of nice sticky iky.
