So I thought I'd go ahead and keep a journal of my grow here...

I would call this my first grow, but it really isn't - it's actually my 3rd, but neither of the first 2 were anything close to successful, for a variety of reasons. I have a LOT more seeds to start from this time, so we'll see if maybe I end up with a half dozen or so nice females in the end.

For lighting, I picked up 4 of the 23 watt CFLs - I would have gone with the 43 watt (I think that's what they are) but Wal-Mart didn't have any that specified the color range that it seems is desirable (8500K). I also found 2 thingies that change an outlet into a light fixture, basically. In each one of those I put a Y splitter...then plugged the plugs into a power strip. Let me tell you, I made the mistake of looking right at the lights when I first plugged it in. That was a half hour ago. If I close my eyes, I still see spiral CFLs. Those suckers are BRIGHT compared to the 13 watt ones you replace most of your lights with.

I have 24 seeds, each one in a 16 oz disposable plastic cup. Soil was some kind of stuff I found at Wal-Mart, Expert Gardener, I think it was. Not Miracle-Gro - I've read enough about it being less than optimal. Those 24 cups fit perfectly into a plastic container (yes, I also got that at Wal-Mart...I live less than a mile from one )

These pics are 24 hours after the seeds went into the dirt, so I'm not expecting to see anything sprouting for another 5 days or so at least. Maybe I'll get a surprise though. Oh, and it's just bagseed - I should say, seeds all from one bag. (I was rather annoyed, it was a 20 sack, and I had like 30 seeds. But I took it as a sign.) So...here's to, hopefully, a successful grow.
