edit - just checked the ph of evian and it reads 7.7, what can be done to lower the ph ??

Use some pH down. Get it at your local pet store.

Why make it hard on yourself with all this papertowel shit! All you have to do is use some PH adjusted water and fill a non see through cup with about 2 inches of water and drop in your seeds. the seeds should float if not you might have a problem. Put in a warm dark place and wait 24 to 36 hrs. I have a 100% success rate with this type of germination. Then again I have only germinated a few dozen seeds. What do I know?

well i woke up today and checked on my little seedys and to my amazement they all had germinated the root tip on 4 are around 1/4 inch long and the other one is just starting to show. I will leave them for another day and then into the jiffy pellets laid in a propagator.

honestly the feeling that hit me on seeing the root tip was one of sheer pleasure.....god knows what im goning to be like when some growth starts to show!!

It's a great feeling, isn't it? I have a feeling you might be like some of us - hooked on growing before you even hit flowering! Welcome to the insanity.

I guess we all have our preferences and things we feel most comfortable with and believe works the best.

In my case I believe germinating right in the soil, if a soil grower, is the best way to go and then I see the paper towel method as being second best and then third best would be any and every other imaginable way to germinate beans, soaking them in water included among them.
　
But then I have only done this for 37 years now so really, what do I know?

cheers fellas - i guess like most things in life there are more ways than one.

placed the seeds with root tip into the jiffy pots and placed into a propagator. the propagator is placed under a 16w 3400k kitchen work top light, which is 8" from the top of the propagator. The room temp is 70f / humidity 60%

at this stage is 24 hours of light required or is 18hrs sufficient ??

is the light powerful enough ?? as i could place it under 2 16w 3400k??

according to mr cervantes bible 'seeds usually need only one initial watering when under a humidity tent' but i was under the impression that it need a light mist daily ??

when spraying a light mist - is this directed to the top of the soil ??

anyone ??
