Default Heat
I'm doing my first grow and was wondering what a good temperature would b for one plant and how far away the light should b

75-80 is a good heat.

Light should be 3 or so inches above the leaves.

Three inches is OK for fluros ... but take care if its a larger light. Don't want to burn the ladies.

75° F is the best temp. A slight decrease in temp when the light is off helps too (but usually that comes automatically once the lights switch off anyways).

chitrette and ViRedd are both right... We need to know what light you are using. If it's powerful HID, than yeah you'll want to be super careful. I found that after the plant goes to flower, you can get away with keeping the light further away. During veg though, you'll want to keep it as close as possible without burning the plant to avoid icky stretchy emo plants...

Be careful when adding fertilizers. Start off 1/2 strength. I just ended up burning the tips on some leaves because I got carried away.
