Default Seedling help....
Hi all,

New here, but have a few questions if ya'll can help me out. I am in the seedling life cycle, right now and have a few questions. Here's what I've done so far...

- Soak seed in water, 24 hrs.
- Put in between wet paper towels, covered with coffee mug (white sprouts popped out after about 2 days total)
- Put seedling in rock wool cube (rock wool soaked prior 24 hrs. PH 5.5); transferred to humidity dome under 2 32watt T8's (6500k)
- Several have currently produced a tiny stem and leaves (called a seedling I think??)

SO, my questions....

-Humidity currently at 65%, temp at 74. How does one raise the humidity??
- How do I know when to water? Approx. how many days/ hours after putting rockwool in dome before first watering? When I do water, should I use a nute like root 66 or sugar daddy (2 tsp for each gallon)? Whats the best way to water a seedling/ rockwool cube?? Spray bottle, bowl, etc..

That's it for now, I will surely be asking more questions soon, so thanks to all for the help! Peace

to raise humidity spray water inside the dome. That should do the trick for that. What humidity % are you trying to accomplish? If anything at all maybe a 1/4 strength root 66 but if it were me, I would not use any nutes for the first 3-4weeks. And with the watering let the rockwol almost dry. You could put rockwol in bowl of water for like 20sec and after shake the excess water out. Make sure to shake it out not squeeze it out. Squeezing takes air sac out and inturn drowns the plants.

Good luck with that...if this post helps at all I wouldn't mind some +rep for it.

humidity is fine m8 keep in ya dome and mist using a spray bottle to keep cubes and seedlings in a moist environment. (spray a few times a day a light misting) leave off the nutes for now mate. keep it like this untill u see roots emerging from thge bottom of the cube a couple is best then transplant into pots and water well. then leave ya pot to dry out so the roots can search for water and establish a root mass. start feeding when u have a few nodes on the plant and only with a plant start nute like formulex etc. hope this helps a bit gd luck

after my seeds germinate i put them in the rockwool cube. then i put them in a party cup. to keep the humidity high i put a plastic baggy over the cup. or if ur pot is small enough cut a 2L coke bottle in half and place it over the pot(pun intended)

Raise the temp and the humidity will raise with it. 80 and even 85 is good for seedlings that age.

by touch and appearance of course. maybe every 2-3 days depending on the level of humidity.

How much and how exactly do I water the rockwool cubes? They are sitting on a bed of perlite, so I don't know if I should use an eydropper amount, spray them with a spray bottle, or simply dump a cup of water on the cube. Sorry for the super specific questions, but I don't know how else to learn. Thank you all for the tremendous help you have provided...I will surely return the favor one day

You can use the microwave to germ seeds, but it has to be on low like defrost because too much heat will kill them. You only want to do this for a few hours though.
