Default Ppm questions
Hey guys

ive seen heard people mentioning "PPM".
i was wondering what it it means and stands for, for what i've heard, i believe it some mechanism that can measure nutrient level of some sort.

Please explain (:

parts per million. If you start with low or zero ppm water, the ppm reading you get with a meter shows nute level and can be managed that way. If you use water with a "ppm" to start, you have to subtract that from readings to get nute level.

Ahh, that explains a whole load.
So what would the ideal ppm reading be?

Depends on the nutes being used and the point in the plants life cycle. PPM just tells you how much of something but not what the ratios are. That's why it's best to use a major brand of nutes and go with their feeding schedule. Generally you start out with 300 or so ppm, work up to 1000 over a few weeks, and possibly get up to 1500 or more and then taper off. You can also look for something called the Lucas Schedule.
