Default Seedlings and rooting question
Hi guys,

I've got a few seedlings in rockwool and now the little beauties have got a couple of roots showing out of the bottom of the rockwool cube.

Saw Jorge Cervantes "Ultimate Grow" and he pulled up a seedling in a r/w cube and it was absolutely brimming with roots! His were ready for transplanting - mine are not at that stage just yet.

Now the roots are showing out the bottom they dont really have anywhere to go.

Just wondering whats the best way to care for the roots of the plant? Shall I just make sure the roots arent pressing against anything and can grow freely.

Advice will be warmly received!!

peace

I'm taking it's your first grow. Are you going hydro or in soil? Also I'm pretty sure in ultimate grow Jorge shows clones, not seedlings.

hi anonononymous!

I am growing in soil. my first grow - bingo!

and yeah youre right about Jorge, but he intersperses seedlings and cloning without there even being a detailed description of seedlings! same with his book. (i used to think the Indoor Bible was flawless - but it misses out on a lot of stuff) e.g. nothing about lights!

thats kind of why i am on here now. + rollitup.org kicks arse!

>>just checked my seedlings again and there are some nice thick roots appearing from the rockwool now - yippee!

Great. Transplant when the taproot shows out of the bottom at about 2 inches long. Are you using soiless (compost, sphagnum moss, peat etc) or soil?

Also, where abouts in Europe are you, if you don't mind me asking?

Yo Anonononymous,

i think the taproot is out, its nice white and hairy and about 2 inches long!

I am going to plant in canna coco plus.

currently have seedlings in peat pellets, coco, and rockwool. just to experiment.
suprising the coco is not even sprouted yet. Rockwool appears to be the best, but the peat pellet is definitely progressing well, almost catching up by the look of things.

Just added a simple homemade co2'er (bottle, sugar, yeast) so hope things start accelerating!

In north UK.

and thanks for your help man
