I have a closet thats 6ft tall 20in deep and 4ft wide is there a way i can make this a grow space and if so what kind of light would be least costly but will make sure my plants arent in the dark

that will make an excellent grow space
if you want to fill it with green, hps is hard to beat
if you want to try a smaller grow, cfl's are an inexpensive way to start

A 400w HPS would go Awesome in there. does your space have the availability for your ventilation?

Buy a 400w light and plenty of fans. Make sure your air, at the bottom of the closet, brings in more air than your exhaust takes out. If you cover your lighting and your air, all you have to worry about is the humidity, and your nutes.

ventilation is a lil bit of a problem because of where the closet is so I'm not sure what I'm going to do about that

if ventilation is difficult, don't over look doing a micro grow
you can work some magic with as few as 100w worth of cfl's - at 100w cfl are more competitive with hps
though you can do a fine micro grow with hps, comes down to personal needs/choice

What type of CFLs is better to use the tube bulbs or the other ones?

If ventilation is a problem you could go with 2 4ft 4bulb t5 floros and have 40,000 lumens with very little heat. These can be bought in the 4ft 2bulb type from HTG Supply for $49 each. HPS would be a better yielder by far but if venting is a true problem you could spend a little for a 400w hps with a cool tube hood. That should give you best of both worlds.

My space is similar in size, also a closet. CFLs are the way to go. See my grow in my sig for an example.
