couple questions about sexing & cloning

hey whats going on every one? I have been reading about sexing and clones but i keep finding post that conterdict each other. I was wondering what the best way to sex a mother plant that has grown from a seed. I looked into covering on branch for 12/12 but later read that the plant releases flowering hormones that make the whole plant go into flowering. (please tell me if i have any of these concepts wrong). I next looked at flowering the mother plant and reconverting it back to veg state. I have also read that that this can stress you plant out badly and make growth slow for 4 weeks or even kill the plant.the last method i looked at was cutting a clone and sexing it. i want to try this method, and i have 2 different grow tents to do so, i have just never cloned before but have read alot on the topic so i feel some what ok with trying it. Out of those methods which would you prefer? Also i have clones and i was wonder if they have to go into flowering in 4-5 weeks of can i keep them in the veg room till i sex the mother plants and clone them? Would this be to much veg time for the clones? Btw the clones are already one week old. thank you every one for helping me out and teaching me the tools of the trade.

like you sed just take a cutting and clone it then flower the cutting then you will no the sex

whats should i do with the clones that i have now? can i wait till i sex the seedlings and clone them or will that be to long for the clones to veg for, or do i have to veg for a certain amount of time? my seedlings are 1 week old and the clones are are like a week and 3 days.

I never have been able to understand this thing about cloning and sexing either. I think some one tried to develop a methd that doesn't waste materials. I do it a little different. I take clones fron the bottom 1/3 of the seedlings, at least two from each one, just as they are ready to go into flowering. Be sure you mark which clones came from which plant. Flower the seedlings. Two weeks later I trim the bottom one third off again and may take some clones if my system needs them. Remove the males as soon as they show sex along with the clones you took from those plants. If you meet the law of averages, you will have twice as many female clones as you have flowering plants.
Do not flower the plants until they show sex and then take clones. I did this to save a strain I hadn't cloned. I good have ordered more seeds and grown them as quickly.
Now that you have all these known female clones you'll figure it out from there. Choose a couple of good ones for mothers if you want, still trim the bottom 1/3 of the plants before you begin flowering and again 2 weeks later.
The clones youa have can wait a while to get some vegatative growth. They will develop faster than your seedling, at least maturity, not necessarily in height. VV

i kind of understand what your sayin but not completely. when you say "Choose a couple of good ones for mothers if you want, still trim the bottom 1/3 of the plants before you begin flowering and again 2 weeks later " do you mean clones. Or the seedlings?also when you say "Flower the seedlings" do you mean flower the seedlings clones to check the sex?if you were just talking about the seedlings its self and not a clone isnt it bad to veg after you start to flower them?thanks for all the info!

ez, the clone method is best. Just wait 'till it roots and has shown a little bit of new growth, then put it under 12/12. It'll show you between 7-14 days what sex it is.Toss that clone in the trash or hell, let it bud for a single nug plant.
Height of a plant in veg is relative to how much height you have and how much bud you want to harvest.
I generally yield 4-5 ounces a plant indoors. But I also veg for 8 weeks or so. Approx 24''-32'' in height. So you can do 2 things IMO, grow a bunch of small one stalked colas, or fewer bigger plants with multiple colas, for me it's a medical legal plant limit thing, so I have less plants, that produce more.
