After fixing the stretching problem that has gone on the past few days, my 10 church (fem) and 5 mixed are growing nicely in a germination kit. I am running a 4 x 100 W CFL lighting system and am going to transplant them in a DWC (deep water culture) system today. They are about 10" from the lighting system, but can they be closer for better results??

Is there such a thing as too much light because I really don't want to hurt the little guys??

Are they true 100 watters, or equivalent 100 watters? I ask because some folks don't realize that when growing with cfls, you should refer to actual wattage rather than equivalent watts. Now, lumens is another matter...

Nope, they are true 100 W lights each and pretty big. There is extremly good ventilation and air movement though so I can put my hand pretty much on or within an inch of it without feeling a high heat. Can a plant get too much light?

you can get too much light, but with cfl you're usually pretty safe, closer is probably better
move closer gradually, better to be a little farther back than to burn
if your plants don't look thin and stretched then the distance is good
