Default Should i use Cal Mag?
Hello i wanna do a grow using the 2 whole part AN feeding program and on the chart its says to mix the nutrients with 0ppm water.. So i bought a r/o system and now i read that after you filter your water people add cal mag to add calcium, magnesium and iron supplements that is lost? Is this really necessary? if im already adding the whole line up of nutrients and additives do i still need to add cal mag? what happens if i dont?

I grow in an aero system using RO water that is only 5/ppm. When I use the Botanicare products, I use CalMag with every rez change like clockwork, because with the Botanicare products you need to. When I use AN Grow part A & B I do not use Cal Mag because its not required. Both products, BC and AN get great results. You can save a considerable amount of money by using the Botanicare products.

Like Vi said, some lines on nutes lack cal/mag so they make a supplement. From what i understand AN nutes already contain enough cal/mag, so no need to add any.

an and gh 3 part formulas are identical, and both are lacking on the micros at anything under full strength application.

as for cal/mag, use it. for everything. you won't be sorry.

cal and mag are bud hardeners

Seedling and early veg might be ok, but you wont know until you get there, every strain has different requirements. For the price of a little bottle of botanicare Cal/Mag i think it is nice to always have on hand. Epsom salt will also work in a pinch. Plants will do ok without enough mag but they are so much happier when they have enough.

I use nothing but RO water for my cuttings and seedlings. This keeps everything small and manageable.

Once I decide to start vegging out my cuttings or seedlings, I use one capful of Botanicare Grow and one capful of Botanicare CalMag per gallon of water. This is still a very weak solution, but then we're talking about little babies here.

After I move the rooted cuttings (that are now vegged out to where I want them) under the big light for another week or two of vegging to establish a denser root system, I switch to the regular amount of either Botanicare Grow and CalMag, or AN Grow A&B with NO CalMag.

Once I enter the flowering stage, I use the entire line of Botanicare, including Botanicare Bloom, CalMag, Liquid Karma, Sweet and HydroGuard.

Vi are you using Sweet Berry or citrus? Do you like the sweet? I use Botanicare and GH and cant decide between trying sweet or floranectar. And now they have floranectar pineapple rush so i really cant decide.
