First time grower here. HD has 5500K CFL's, which is by my house. They don't have 6500k, Target does have 6500K. should I get the 6500K or the 5500K, or does it not make much of a difference.

The are for veg.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Judging from that graph, it looks like a 5800 would be best....if they even make 'em. So would it be better to have some 5000's in with the 2700's when you flower? Since that's the light it absorbs the most.

frmrboi , I like the graph you posted showing the absorption. Great info !!!
yeah me too, it revolutionized my growing to a whole new level. I've posted that thing for years now and if I died today I feel I've done more than my share to advance the growing communities skill level.

I know you can buy 5700 K CFL lights, but it was online and I never bookmarked it, I'm not that ambitious to experiment. Those winter depression (SAD) therapy lights is where to Google for a supplier.
I don't know how you perceived 5000K good for flowering, they are totally useless. I know a guy who bought some and his plants stopped growing and looked like they were left in an unlit closet. Perhaps you meant 6500 K ? because that's what most people do, a mixed spectrum grow. A friend did a grow with T5 tubes 80% 6500K and 20% 2700K that was beautiful. Stubby bushy plants glowing with crystals.
