I have two Closets I can use:

One is 38.5 inches wide, 26.5 deep, and over six feet tall (but right by my front door) I'm open to putting incense near the door to mask smells.

The other is smaller and only 24 inches wide and 20 deep, over 6' tall. (in the hall ten feet back from my front door)

First, how many plants could I get in either? I have Northern Light seeds via a friend gift, 10 of them and am trying to germinate them now. They are on day two of germination via paper towel with a bowl covering them. Only two have cracked that I can tell. I moved them on top of the fridge where it is a little warmer tonight. I keep it 75-80 in the apartment right now. But I hear it can take over a week so I'm being patient.

I have bought pots, will be doing soil my first time out. Bought soil at a hydro shop the guy reccomended too.

Anyway, I'll start florescent probably (two foot bulbs) and flower with a 400 watt HPS? Is that what I should do? I don't want to go hydro and learn the plant process and troubleshoot things before I invest heavy. Or a 150 HPS all the way through?

Should I line the walls with mylar? You all are going to way heavily in my closet choice.

No vents in either but I have a couple of small fans and can open the doors from time to time.

I would put it in the room away from the front door for no other reason but to keep it away from visitors. A 400w will do great in either space. You can prolly get away with 6-10 plants. You can use mylar but flat white paint is nearly as good. You already know the 400w will need venting. A small charcoal canister could vent heat and mask the smell. That is what I would get. Just run the hose up in the attic.

That's the issue, it is an apartment. I'm not sure how I can vent other than opening the door. Especially going with a 400w HPS system. 6 to 10 plants could fit in closet number 2? Really. That would be awesome.

The soil I got is Fox Farm Ocean Forest Organic Potting Soil? Any thoughts on that?

In an apartment with no outside ventilation, you're going to stink to high hell even with carbon, with just a couple of plants. 6-10 plants will be detectable pretty much anywhere on your floor, possibly on others if the building ventilation system isn't isolated. I'd never grow in an apartment. Fox Farm is my favorite potting soil. Good stuff.

Dude smell is going to be a big issue i could give u countless ways for u to hook up an excellent system in the area that u have but 1st u def need to move that closet closer to a window to extract that smell........ptherwise u´ll get in trouble m8

If I cut back on the plants will that help? What would be managable for an apartment? I'll get charcoal filters, etc.

I am in a corner apartment. First floor. So I have on neighbor on top and one to the east. It's a pretty big apartment. I only have two immediate surrounding neighbors. So two walls have neighbors, my bedroom wall... (they are thing, my neighbors hear me fucking all the time), My ceiling everywhere is my above neighbor.

I have two windows that face about a 30 foot space and bushes. So I can keep the open and not really be seen, could run something there but when I'm at work I would have to kill it.

My neighbors to my bedroom have bought pot from me.

The AC units are independent per apartment. I have my own unit. I'll add some pics when I get home tonight.

i grow in a condo and smell isnt a problem. my closet is adjacent to the coat closet and this is where my intake line is. and i exhaust into my room and there is no smell period.

I think for now since the closet is really only 2 foot by 2 foot (a little less) I'll just try do all the stages with a HPS 150 watt I have around. It lights up that small area really well and doesn't get hot as the 400 watt. Plus it is free from a friend who upgraded to a 400 watt with his increase in area.

Keep it about 18 inches up from the sprouts right? I got this cool hook system that raises and lowers 8 feet. It's meant for watering heavy ceiling plants easily
