How long should I leave a plant in flowering to guarantee some seeds?

Just wondering - I've heard about leaving a plant for long enough to pollinate itself and produce seeds...roughly how long IS that gonna be? (just wondering...would 3-3-and-a-half months flowering be enough for an "8-week" indica?) :bigjoint:

I think all you get from extended flowering is pollen sacks. the plant won't have enough time to produce viable seeds. but i think the pollen can be stored in the freezer for later use. :bigjoint:

Hmm...I was hoping to get some guaranteed female seeds - anyone have any ideas how long it could take? (I'd like all the seeds to be mature...)

if it's a female plant just put it ink flowering & stress her out with light disturbances during the dark cycles. The plant will go hermie & you'll get seeds. Have you tried cloning? It would be alot easier then seeds. & you can for sure know it's a female.

I may try cloning - I've heard once you've cut a budsite off a branch it'll grow 2 branches back in a couple weeks, how the hell do you get it to grow back? ...mine just stay as empty branches and I've read all the stuff in the grow faq, do you have to take the whole branch DIRECTLY from the main stem so it looks like theres just never been a branch there or something?

i thought the object of growing was to have no seeds. just good thick healthy colas ?:fire:

Heard of the bud sites doubling. You can double the top cola. If you top the top of the plant it will grow into two top colas. I'm not so sure if that's possible with the side bud sites.

topping is just cutting the main shoot which redirects hormones to the lower shoots which cause them to grow into tops.

And it can be done to any branch on the plant just make sure to leave smaller shoots further down the stem to grow.

some people want the seeds so they won't have to buy anymore, just one plant can produce hundreds of seeds. And since there is thc on a pollinated female you can still make some hash with that.

Some plants will produce pollen sacks towards the end of their life cycle in a last ditch effort to reproduce. Regardless, you need to leave the plant growing until the seeds are popping out. Dark brown w/spots
