im getting supplies ready for my first try at this, i want to go with HPS bulbs, but i only was gonna try for 2 plants. i found 2 100 watt lamps, but i keep reading about ballasts..... will i need to get one also????, or because they are only 100 watts, i wont need one????? this is only for flowering, ive got cfls for veg.

this site is great, i cant stop reading and learning.... thanks in advance

You will need a ballast for any type of metal halide of hps lamp.

i prolly should have asked earlier, but now that i need a ballast, will i need one for each lamp? does the wattage have to match or can i go a step up with the ballast?

The wattage of the ballast must be equivalent to the light you are using. You can burn out the ballast or bulb by using different wattage components. Yes, you will need one ballast per light.
