Default seeds directly sinked when i put them into a glass of water
hi

i bought 5 WW and 5 skunk #1 ( both feminized and both of them is seedsman ) from attitude and i put them a glass of water to crack.

however, some of seeds directly sinked as soon as when i put into water while others floating .after 5-6 hours, all seeds sinked and i put all of them into rockwool cubes.
deoes it mean directly sinked seeds are dead ?

Osh kosh begosh... if they sink they are GOOD SEEDS. There is absolutely no need to pre soak seeds. wow..

but i never saw directly sinked seeds .
normally :" put seeds into water and they would float.after a while, seeds will sink and if some seeds still wont sink, they are probably dead "

it is ok,
but there is a extraordinary case that some of seeds immediately sinked as soon as when i put into water .

Weed seed has a VERY thin hull. Only thick seed hulls need a pre soak and that's only because people don't want to wait the required time...like with Canna flaccida seeds as an example. Just stick them in the medium and they will do the rest. The more you futz with them the more things can go wrong.

Nono..it's the exact opposite. It means they are well sealed and air has not penetrated them (which is good). No air, no disease or critters. I have worked with plants on a commercial basis for many years and sometimes we would gather hundreds of thousands of seeds at a time. the easiest way to find the undesirables was to place them in a tub of water...any floaters were CHUCKED! I'm not saying some of those would not have germ'd, but the odds of getting a healthy mature plant were diminished...

Ive found that seeds from seedbanks are shit, only half of them germinate. I just like to grow good ol' bag seed, its cheap and easy. And also people say "if they sink there good and if they float there bad." Thats false. Ive gotten good plants from seeds that sink and from seeds that float. That method is flawed.

If you read the post in context I said it was much more probable to get a healthy mature plant from a sinker than a floater. This is what we do in the commercial field of seed collecting. Not saying a floater won't produce but when you have thousands, it is a easy way to instantly cull out the losers. If I had 100 weed seeds and was only going to plant 50, I would take 50 sinkers.
