when to take the humidity dome off

Hey All;

I was told that when my seedlings first show roots and when they get that second pair of leaves that i should take them out of the humidity dome and start to give them small amounts of nutrients.

I am growing in an aeroponic set up.

The seedlings are in 1 inch rockwool and the root popped out the bottom, i have since put them in with hydroton balls in my aeroponic set up and have given then small amounts of Dutch Nutrients.

However I am starting have second guess myself since this is my first grow.

Does this seem correct to everyone.
I also have them under 1 1000watt MH light, about 2 feet away. Temp is only around 80 deg at plant level and i have a oscillating fan blowing fresh air on them.

They still seem small compared to other peoples picks, so you can see i am worried.

Any info will help. Thanks

Yes take them out of the dome, the dome is unnecessary it's more for clones, not seeds. And make sure the rockwool is not getting wet from your system. You want the root to get wet... not the rockwool... arrange your hydroton accordingly... p.s make sure your root is far enough down so it has plenty of water or else the plant will dry up on ya since the rockwool is staying dry... goodluck!

My root is not yet long enough to fall into the resevoir. I have drippers currently that will supply water to the top of the rockwool and root. My system is a DIY of bubbleponics. Once the root is long enough i will no longer require the dripper portion but for now i assume i require it.

I do know if your using hydro you got to fert at a low strength to make them grow if it was soil you would just use water cause the soil has enough ferts. in already for young plants but in hydro you have to use hydro ferts. it should tell you on the bottle how much to use . Diddy:weed:
