I seem the sweet spot also on my lights. they grow to it and stop. it's just that that spot is 1/2" on the wrong side of the glass.

i grow alot of east coast sour diesel and if i flower it at 14 inches after topping my plants twice they end up around 30-32 inches.The sour tends to stretch like a bitch though even under 1000's

So around how much bud could a 4 foot plant typically produce?

Anything over 1ft i go for but the longer you can veg a plant the bigger the yiled.but i always go to 1ft to a foot and harf.realy depends on the strain.sativas tend to be a bigger plants so i would flower at a smaller size.a plant like arjons ultra haze #1 i would flower at about 4 ince this plant is huge i f@cked up last year by flowering at 1ft and it was 12/13ft in week 5 of flowering,not forgetting that this plant flowers for 9/15week.what ever strain you are growing.sativa/ indica 1ft should serve you well.

Quick question: what is considered the 1st day of flowering? Is it the day you switch to 12/12 or the day that the 1st flowers actually appear?

depends on who you talk to .
YOU start them flowering the day of 12\12

when THEY actually start to flower could be a week or 2 later
if a strain says 8 wk to finish, i would start counting from when THEY start to flower
