i wanna get rid of my miracle-gro potting soil and someone suggested a repot. how do i go about repotting new soil from a fairly old vegging plant?

Hmm, I guess you want to get out all of the time release fert capsules?

You've only got 1 option really - prepare a bowl of tepid water with 1 drop of Superthrive (at a rate of 1 drop per gallon, don't overdo it) and gently dunk the rootball into the water for a few seconds and then out again until you've got all the soil off the roots. Then pot it into a pot of soil with a hole for the now rather long dangly roots and pot it gently in.

I'm not sure which would be worse really, doing that or simply leaving the time release ferts in the soil surrounding the rootball and repot conventionally. If it were me, I'd probably do it that way and keep my fingers crossed most or any of the time release capsules in the soil had already released or haven't got much more to release.

I did a bit of research and it seems there are some fatty substances used to bind the extended release pellets, you could try a mild, biodegradable dish soap as a flush... haven't tried it myself but see if you can find a couple of those pellets and see if it works before you try. Again, never done it myself...

thanks, babygro. that helped. i was just about to go clean off the rootball but i guess it would be less risky to just leave it be.
