Hey whats up guys, Im new to this sit and this is my first grow. Ok what I have right now is...

4x2x6 closet space with 16 plants of various strains (pitbull,trainwreck,whitewidow,skunk1,grapeape,and kush. They are all in 1 gallon pots, and they have been vegging 24hrs a day for about 1 month now, under a 1000 watt mh air cooled light system.

Basically Right now as far as ventilation all I have is a cheap clip on fan blowing the hot air out of the light, and 2 room fans circulating air in the closet.. Im not that worried becuz I keep the closet doors open 24-7 so it doesent get too hot.

As soon as I get my tent which will be on friday I will put the plants into 5 gal grow bags and move them into the 6.5x6.5x6.5 tent space, and switch to a 12-12 light cycle with a 1000 watt hps.

I currently water them about every other day when there dry, and I use the following nutrients..

Vegative (the following is per gallon of water)
Tap water with 5 ml of vita grow water conditioner
15ml of botanicare grow
10ml of botanicare cal-mag
10ml of botanicare liquid karma
10ml of botanicare silica blast

for flowering I will be switching grow with bloom, and adding 5 ml of botanicare sweet

What I need to know is at the very least what should I do to cool that 1000 watt hps in the tent, as well as odor control. I was thinking a simple carbon filter, with about a 140 cfm inline fan, with the proper ducting.Any advice would help.

Right now my guys are anywhere from 9 inches to 18 inches. A couple questions I need answered are

How many flowering giants can I fit in a 6x6x6 space under a 1000 watt hps, and how much weight should I expect.

To get a constant supply of bud, how many watts and what kind of light am I going to need to support enough clones and mothers and vegative plants, in my 4x2 vegative space. Remember I need the right amount in there to cover the 1000 watts in my 6x6 flowering tent.

Dear Doobie: I am in almost the identical set-up/ situation as you...3 weeks veg/training in closet, and about to move into a tent and 1000 hps, while needing some further clarity about the right fan and carbon filter. Hopefully, if I raise my voice in unison with yours a more experienced brother will come to the rescue.

I will say this, I too thought about a 140 cfm fan would be adquate so I ordered an S&P TD 100x--rated at 135 cfm, and also bought a General Hydroponics carbon filter for it rated for between 135-176 cfm.

The size I'd bought was based on what seems a common formula--take the cubic footage of the grow room...then add about 25 percent for the resistance created by the filter--plus add even more if there's substantial amt of bends or length in the ducting, add 10 to 15% for lights, and then divide that number by 3--figuring moving the air in the room every 3 minutes.

But according to a local hydroshop owner, that size fan isn't going to be anywhere near enough to circulate the heat that would develop from a 1000 hps in that small a space.

He rec'd getting about a 440 cfm fan, and a filter that looked big enough to be a whale's cock--and one that I could hardly imagine could be held up by a tent's velcro straps or whatever.

I'm a newbie to indoor growing myself, but I don't think you're going to be able to fit all 16 of those plants in 5 gal grow bags under a single 1000 hps light, and have the kind of lumens--like over 6000 per sq foot-- to raise giants. Get more experienced feedback here, but I am only planning to fit 9 plants under a 1000, and mine will be in 3 gal pots, not 5 gal--though with bags instead of pots, you might get a another one or two in there.

When somebody hears our pleas for advice, hopefully they will give name/models of fans and filters--I'm thinking to get a 4 x 8 tent from HTG--what kind of tent did you order?

I too am using Botanicare nutes, and they've already helped bring my pH down, though only to 6.7--I'd like to be a tad lower.

Are you thinking of doing anything about RH once you have your tent? I've been using a makeshift coffee can with a hand towel wick, placed before the fan, plus frequent spraying. It helps --my relative humidity is now between 35 and 45.But don't know how that's gonna work in a tent under more intense light.

When somebody reads these posts maybe they'll have some advice abt humidity--like a mini fogger or something?

well how funny guys i have the same tent and same setup also! one thing before i start is never call your plants "guys" lol call em gals girls females ladies lol you would hate yourself and would have wasted a lot of time if those were males bro! they look really good tho and real healthy looking! i have 14 plants that are in week 3 of flower! they are in 5gal pots and range from 2 ft to 3 ft! i also have a real bushey kryptonit that was my momma in there too so i have 15 ladies in there right now under a 1000 watt hps with a radiant hood which i dont like cuz it doesnt spread the lgith out wide enough compared to other hoods! all of them are getting enough light and have some form of buds starting on them (day 17) i have a 6.5 x 6.5 x 6.5 tent i bought from ebay! click on my journal link to see all kinds of pics and stuff through out since i was veggin, for heat problems i would just reccomend getting a 8000 btu air conditoner/dehumidifyer its $199 like i am in the next week or so! 1000 watters put off too much heat, i wish i would of gone with 2 or 3 600's instead!
