Question Long time appreciator, first time grower...got some questions!
Hey everyone:

This is my first time growing like everyone else in this section and I have a few questions. I already have a pretty complete set up in my mind and wanted to get your advice and comments. First I can run you through my space. It's a 3x2.5x6~ area. Will also have cardboard type white boards for reflection. Ultimately, I plan on having a pretty low-key set up, at most 4 plants or less and rt now I'll be starting out with 2. So, I was thinking as far as light, at first was a 150 watt sunsytsm hps but got to thinking that it just wouldn't be enough to pull off a decent yield in the flowering stage? However now, Im really starting to lean towards cfls. Particularly a 4 tube (2 feet long) 24 watt each cfl throughout every stage- 6700k.

http://www.discount-hydro.com/produc...d=331&navid=40

Would this be sufficient for even two plants even thru flowering? I can buy a couple more bulbs or something if I have to. Can stretch the budget a little.

Anyways, I plan on using an organic medium- possibly fox farm or some organic mixture at a local store. Plus, maybe some starter plugs- would this be even worth it?. As far as extra nutrients goes, was thinking of buying some sort of starter kit, obviously organic and buying some neem oil just for good measure since I hear its not only good for pests but beneficial in some way for root growth I don't know. But something like a qrt. of FoxFarm Big Bloom (only start using this in the flowering stage rt?). Gonna maybe keep the nutrients to a minimum since I don't know much about them as far as measurements go. Then, I'll have the automatic timer, a rotating fan, thermostat and ill probably end up getting a pH balancer as well plus other minor stuff. Let me know what you guys think.

And if this makes a difference, I don't know exactly what strain these two that I have now are but in the future I plan on getting some lowryder #2 x ak47 that when mature are 40-70 cm.

And I've looked around in other sections few pages in- found some answers but not a lot of the specifics since I'm only gonna have like 2 or so plants.

ok this is what you need for our light set up:
a power strip
3 light sockets that plug into the power strip
3 Y sockets
then ur lights..
we got it all at lowes except the strip which we had just layin around. its real simple easy and cheap and it works good. oh yeah and we have the strip plugged into a timer. just let me know if you have any more questions. good luck!

Fox Farm are awesome nutrients, IMO, but they're not organic...well, only Big Bloom is. You use Big Bloom in both Veg. and Flowering stages. Whichever nutes you decide to go with, you can almost always find feeding schedules for them online. Here's Fox Farm's for a soil grow: http://www.foxfarmfertilizer.com/soilfeed.pdf

Hey bighitter it sound like a great light setup but im wondering how i could hang the power strip over the plants in my closet. Are there some kinds of little screw holes in the back of the bar or something?

Just for the general benefit of the thread like bighitter said, 6500k is a "daylight" or blue-ish spectrum which is ideal for vegetative growth (metal halide lamps produce this) and a warmer, more red spectrum is needed for flowering (HPS or "warm" tubes if CFL)....Also in my first grow i was told that the minimum light needed to produce growth is approx 2000 lumens/sqft with 3 being better and 4000+ being ideal...just a thought when adding up your supplies, good luck and happy growing

Another good cfl setup is to use 2 42w bulbs in a Y adapter in a large clamp reflector. I think 40 and 42w are the best dollar values and the easiest to place and configure. I have been getting mine from amazon.

you want a 70/30 split on spectrum light. 70% 6500 for veg, 70% 2700 for flower. That's easier to adjust along with 42w bulbs also. I have aslo used 42w in a power strip like above. I would add that if you go that way, since they are heavier they tend to pull out when upside down. I got some very long twist ties and wrap them through the split of the Y and behing the power strip to make them secure, you don't want bulbs falling on your plants!
