Default smoking weed straight off the plant?

someone told me u can pick bud off a growing plant, put it in the oven for a bit to dry it out, and smoke it right there.
is this how it works?

Good ole fashioned drying for 2 weeks, then curing in the jar for 2 more.... mmm, mmm good! But if u just wanna try out a new harvest and can't wait, the method u metioned will work, but it won't have the taste.

patience is its own reward, however if you must smoke some now slip it into the micro on paper (it will help absorb the moisture) for 20 secs at 20% power. repeat as necessary.

I have dried it with a hair dryer before. Wanted to see if it was as good as it looked. Tasted like crap, but gave me a good indication of what I had. You could build a drying box: Bud Dryer to get better results, but you will still want to cure it for the best flavor.

Dude, that was me! A long time friend was coming to SoCal from Washington State and said she'd be bringing some buds that she grew. We get to my house and it turns out that she picked them that morning!
