Angry Deer Ate My Plants!!!
The other night all but one of my plants were eaten by deer. Is there any way other then fencing off the area too keep the deer from eating my plants?

Soap: Heavily scented soaps work at repelling deer. Among these are Irish Spring and Zest. What you do is shave the soap in thin slices around your plot. The pros are that it works, but the cons are that you must replace the soap once a week. This gets very old very quick, as well as cost you money every time.

Human Scents: Deer dislike the smell of human scents. One method of spreading your scent around is to urinate all around your site. What you may also choose to do is urinate in a 2 liter soda bottle, and pour it around your plot when you visit. Urine, like the soap, will need to be replaced every week. Another, more cumbersome, yet more efficient solution is to spread human hair around the area. This may be retrieved from a barber shop. In this case, you simply throw fistfuls of hair around the area, and it is said to repel deer for a few weeks, unless rain washes it away.

One high ass deer i bet.. no uhhm you could if you have alot of money buy an enclosed cage? the ones u put dogs in and stuff.. only bigger. with fence on 5 out of 6 sides (obviously not the ground.. =p.. you could build a tall fence as a cheaper fix for it but it will be a bit more obvious somethign is growing there or is living there...

This is the only surviving plant and it is about 4 to 5 inches and only two days old. How does it look so far?

I know a few other ways to get rid of deer:
  • There are safe spray you can get as well. I believe it is spelled "Bitrex". I have a soap based Safer's product that contains it and it says it is safe for all humans, animals. However the taste is terrible. The deer will take one bite and run away. It has worked to repel rabbits and squirrels from my gardens. My dogs don't even go near it either.
  • As well you can lay down blood meal, that will repel them too. Just sprinkle a coat of it all over the ground around your plants and plot.
  • Fox urine is now sold in powder form, that is one of the newest repellents on the market right now. It is not sold in Canada yet. Maybe you could get some where you are.
Trial and error as there are many ways. I have heard and tried some of the others mogie mentioned too. Try em all and see what works best.
Good luck,

Chiceh
