ok so for my first grow ever, i have 2 bagseeds that im growing in 2 plastic cups, under a fluorescent tube labeled "growlight" at walmart. just a couple of questions, can i keep them in these plastic cups or do i need bigger pots to grow them in, if so how big. second, i am using miracle grow as fertalizer, i have nothing else. is it better to just not use anything at all? finally, i am leaving in about a week and my plants just sprouted, any ideas for how to keep them watered while im away without the help of a friend? thanks. i;ll have pics later tonight.

First off welcome to the site.

You have a lot to learn but thats ok cause thats what this site is for. It is obvious that you are unprepared and therefore unless you educate yourself with atleast a couple hours worth of good reading then you are going to fail. The link in the top left that says GrowFAQ will answer 90% of your questions and we can help answer the rest. You can grow for a couple weeks probably with the light you got but to make buds you need major light. Also with the cups you have maybe you can grow 2 weeks but by then the tap root will have long since hit the bottom and will no longer be tapping.

you will need bigger pots as u dont want them to get potbound. For every foot of growth ull need a 1gallon pot.

An old trick for house plants (when u go on holiday etc) was to get a few laces, feed them through the bottom of the pot and sit the laces in a bowl of water. Maybe u can utilize this idea abit better?

thanks for the advice. i have done alot of reading, more than most people i imagine, but i dont have the rescources to get those giant expensive lights. also, how can i transfer the plants to a bigger pot without killing them? whens the earliest i can sex them to get rid of the males? and about that lace trick with the water, can you elaborate? thanks


by the way, this isnt really my first grow. its my first serious grow? i had a plant in my friends basement before, it was getting huge, at least i was surprised i got that far. at least a foot tall, and then he killed it.

if you can't afford good lighting then go with cfl's. They tend to do the best job for little money.
