The home depot in my area dosn't carry quite the right ones, you should be looking for ones with a 6500k color spectrum for vegging, they are generally int he blue package labeled cool daylight or something similar.
Stay away from the ones in the red package and green package.
The ones in home depot i believe are 5000k, they will work but they aren't the very best.
The higher wattage the better, more light = bigger plants.

Take a good look all over the packaging it should say somewhere what color spectrum it is.

Alright so im looking for the blue packaging ones / "cool daylight" for vegging. And the higher the wattage the better.

Now what should i get for the flowering stage when it comes to that?

the red ones 2700k envirolight.co.uk do a good high watt cfl

the blue daylight cfl is 5500k the biggest the stock in most stores is 100 equiv. 42watt

I bought some lights from wal mart last night they looked like the other CFL's i saw there 3x26 watt GE but i cant see anything that says cooling. the package is green and yellow so the blue or red is not applicable. It says general light does that mean i bought the wrong kind and need to go and get the cooling they all looked the same.

btw way it says each bulb is 1750 lumens if that helps...i have 3 of them on 2 plants in veg state
