i really want to start growing me some weed but different people are telling me that the random spike in the electricity bill over a few months is suspicious as shit and people have been caught because it was too suspicious. is this something i should really be bothered about?

not unless you are talking some serious lighting. I have changed most light bulbs in my house to cfl's to help counteract the increased usage. I have been using over 450 watts of cfl's and 240 watts of flouroscent tubes in my grow room and I have noticed no increase in eletric bill. I just put a 400 watt mh we'll see what that does ... I dont believe you should be bothered about it

some of the lights you use in you're home change the bulbs to low energy 20w but they still put out 100w light right. then buy a 400w HPS and that will help balence the power use

There is no reason to worry. Police only use the Electric bill if they already have a suspicion that you may be growing and is one of the many ways they can obtain a search warrant.. as far as spikes.. seriously there isnt much of a spike ESPECIALLY if your growing only 1 or 2 plants and that would be 2 or 6 at most cfl's. Listen to the people above me and just change soem of your lights to lower wattage cfl's and you may even notice a "decrease" in eletric.. and as far as the spikes your refering to those are when lights turn off for the few hours duging night cycle.. you know there are naturally spikes anyways when you go to bed and stop watchign tv and turn al lthe lights out anyways so dont worry.

what would you consider serious lighting?? i mean to start im not trying to grow a shit load of weed, just a few seeds. would High Tech Garden Supply be considered serious lighting? if so, ill just get some cfl's.

no that is fine you only need to change 7 100 watt bulbs to 26 watt cfls to balance it out so change 10 and in reality your bill should go down.

ok lets talk spikes. if you have a digital meter they can see it. otherwise there is little they can do. i am sure i have the highest bill on the block year after year.

at some points in the day i am pullin 90 amps........ they feel this........ thats pullin close to 10000 watts. the adverage grower will pull 20 amps tops

what 100 watt bulbs are you talking about? i dont have any lights or anything yet lol. and damn if my bill will actually go down for having lights on for 16 hours straight than hell yeah.

true that.. no need to worry at all.. right now were pulling ALOT of amps.. me adding a a/c upstairs.. (makes a total of 3) brings my amps upstairs to 30.. and atleast 100-150 more throughout the house.. I have a rather huge house tho .. o.O we have 4 a/c's in the house and alot of computers and tv's and crap running at once.. xD
