I know this may sound a little paranoid, but has anyone EVER heard of someone getting caught growing because of an online journal type deal??

Literally NO ONE knows about my grow except me, but I keeping having paranoid thoughts that the popo might be keeping an eye on websites like this, and log IP's of users to see their location. Is there any chance of this happening? Has it EVER led to someone's arrest before?

I'm one of those people that will start thinking about something (like the cops busting in my door because some cop is surfing this website, and somehow logs IPs of users), and then starts to run away with it, thinking of the worst possible scenario. I'm really debating about just deleting my grow journal, but I really, really want the incite for any future grows I do (if any). Has anyone ever heard of people getting caught? Can any hard-core techies out there tell me if it is even possible for someone outside the administration of this site to obtain IP's of users and derive their location from that info?

if they really want to get u, yes they can but dont worry its very rare because it takes time and effort to track u down once they track u they will need a warrant to search ur house & all that just for a few pics u posted up... i dont think so... they may end up wit nothing

I'd love some input from an admin or a mod on the site - I thought I remembed admin and mods being able to track the IP's of the computer where a user's post came from, but I wasn't sure if this site was able to do that.

Any more input from anyone? I'm sure ALOT of people are curious.

I Would Say If They Cant Put Ur Face With The Pic+ur Ip They Wouldnt Have Probable Cause. Evidece Would Be No Good Off This Site. Lots Of Here Say And Speculation

Well as a technie, I can get the Ip address from anyone here. All I would need to do is post a message with a picture thats hosted on my server. My server would log your IP, find your refferer (rollitup.org), then proceed to try and grab as many public cookies as I could and log them. I could then later go through the process of looking through the cookies to identify who you actually are (I dont know if you Test_pilot, or videoman,etc based on your ip, thats where the cookies come into play)...

The likely hood of this happening? I don't think its very likely unless your posting a grow journal of 30+ pound yields. Thats a lot of time, money, and effort to do that, as well as the manpower. Joe Bob the LEO doesnt have the required skills to do such a thing. Your talking way up there DEA type shit.

So is it basically safe to assume that the odds of being tracked down because of posting a grow journal on here in which you grow 5-10 plants is pretty slim??

It just seems like if the cops really wanted to track down a few growers, this would be a great way find people. I mean, honestly when you think about it, isn't it kind of dumb of us to post pictures of our grows online?
