i was wondering if anyone had any experience with painting inside of cab with metallic paint i saw some rust oleum that claimed super reflectivity.
In the faq it says that flat white is best but doesn't mention metallic.
In the faq it also mentions specific values for reflectivity.
Does anyone have figures like this for super reflect metallic paint?

ok so i see people checking this thread and this is what i discovered , the paint is super reflective ---if put on a smooth surface, louan, which is what i used is not even close it is reflective don't get me wrong but comparison wise i'd say aluminum foil is better (i don't have a light meter so this is speculation) i tried an experiment and that was skim coating the louan with a mud of some sort i used drywall mud sanded smooth and it made a huge improvement but in the end i went to the grow shop and bought mylar if paint is your only optioon then i would say metallic is over kill without results flat white is pretty efficient (and cheap)

What it all comes down to is not only reflectivity but also how well the reflective material diffuses the light rays.

A mirror will reflect 100% of light rays but only at the angle at which they strike the mirror. That is why you cannot see your reflection from the side of a mirror and will only see it once you get in front of the mirror. That is why a reflective light hood with a pebbled surface/finish is superior to a flat surface reflective hood, it diffuses the light rays in more directions giving more equal distribution of light to a broader area.

That is why flat white paint is a very good choice for a reflective material, it reflects roughly 85% of light rays and it diffuses light rays very well. Mylar is better and it will reflect roughly 92% of light rays and diffuses it very well but for some the cost keeps them from using Mylar. Some try to beat the cost issue by buying thinner grades of Mylar but they tend to damage easily and that reduces reflectivity. Mylar also tends to get dirty, to get a buildup of dust and dirt and various other things in your air and is not as easily cleaned as a flat white painted wall is.

If you have noticed most reflective paints do not reflect much light unless the light strikes them fairly directly. That means they are much like mirrors and that means they do not diffuse light rays as efficiently or as broadly as other reflective materials.

EVERYONE first off Mirrors and Aluminum Foil absorb light. MYLAR is the only reflecting looking material you can use. If you want to paint it. FLAT WHITE is the farthest left on the color spectrum and there for reflects the most light.

Paint your room flat white.

good advice i wish you guys had posted before i had run the experiment but that 's alright i wouldn't have believed you anyway (i always do things the hard way and yes i did buy the thinner (1m) grade of mylar i didn't realiize that 2m was only 10 bucks more but the is a material available the has fiber woven in and is waterproof unlike mylar so it can be washed any way i beginning to think that overkilling the light a little painting white is very simple and you wont miss the lost light with the overkill it is a continuing experiment here's the linknewbie
