First grow.Humidity and temp problems

Hey everyone this is my first post ive been trolling for a while but im kinda stumped i have read faq and multiple threads and havent really gotten an answer to my exact problem

Ok so i germinated some seed set up my closet grow room planted the germinated seeds i planted them in jiffy pots with miracle grow.. i have 6 26w cfls and 1 40w cfl i made a custom light hood for 3 of the bulbs i have a store bought metal hood fro one of them and the other two are kinda just chillin. i have an air purifier(small) a small oscilating fan and a humidifier(i dont think the humidifier is working) ..but the temps have gotten up to 90ºF and humidity is extremely low at 20% my apartment is very very dry so thats obviously why humidity is so low and aparently my humidifier has stopped working cause humidity went up to 44% at one point and now its back down to 20% temp seems to jump around 70(dark) to 89(light) it fluctuates a real lot and i have no clue how to keep it at a steady temp/humidity i absolutely can not cut any holes in my walls or door for vents or intake...

i dont have to be all thats discreet cause its just me and my girl in this apartment so we can keep the door open for venting but then that makes humidity stay at 20% even if i mist in the closet put a bowl of hot or ice water in there the humidity doesnt get above 30%

my question is what can i do with out cutting holes or spending any more money to keep humidity and temp under control cause that is my biggest problem...the seeds have not sprouted yet just planted 2 seeds 3 days ago and 2 yesterday the soil gets very very dry very quickly i had to water the soil twice yesterday because the humidity is so low...and im worried i wont be able to grow plants in this climate im trying to grow them in

Take a baking sheet and put some water in it. Throw a few sponges in the sheet and leave it in your room, preferably in front of a fan. Thats a ghetto humidifier, but it should be good for about a 10% increase, depending on the size of your room.

If you can make a way to EXHAUST the hot air, you dont necessarily need an intake. If you have something to suck the hot air out, you'll have a "passive intake," which means that every crack in the room that can let air in acts as your intake, bringing fresh, cool air in. You just need to have an exhaust somewhere at the top of your room to suck all the hot air out.

number one-you shouldnt be germing seeds straight into miracle gro(or using it at all for that matter).Next time germ in rapid rooters or/and light warrior. If your humidifiers broken just spend the 30 bucks for a new one that works-Humidifiers actually mist the water into the air-those homemade methods will raise your RH a little, but its minimal and not as reliable.Target sells some for 30 to 50 bucks where you can digitally set your Humidity levels. How many seedlings do you have? If they havent sprouted yet, theres no reason why you should have all of your cfl's on at the same time which will cut down on your heat issues for now at least-When they do sprout(if they sprout)keep your temps around 75.Try turning off half of your cfl's until they have theyre first set of true leaves and point an oscillating fan at the floros.

well 2 have sprouted out of 4 so far and i have 3 more seeds that are germinating and cracked almost ready to put into the jiffy pots the miracle grow doesnt seem to be harming the little seedlings they are nice green and pointing straight up towards the light i rotate them quite often and have been misting them every few hours because everything gets so dry humidity is about 29% i put plastic baggies misted with water over the jiffy pots and thats when the two sprouted humidity was around 50% inside the baggies and temp was steady between 80-85ºF while it being 85% outside the baggie and 20-25% humidity unfortunately plastic baggies will only last so long nothing else seems to be working and i dont really have another $50 to spend on a new humidifier and unfortunatly i have to keep the closet door open because if i dont temps get to 90+

i cant cut any wholes in the walls, ceiling or floorcause cause im in an apartment and i cant really afford ac and humidifiers so...any other cheap suggestion?

btw i fucked up when i first started purchasing lights i bought a bunch of random cfls from walmart without knowing the kelvin rating and today i bought 4 more bulbs to add and compare i bought 2 27watt 2700k cfls and 2 26watt 5500k cfls and unfortunately all 7 lights i had originally purchased were the lower kelvin rating because they glow the same exact color as the 2700k the 5500k are a shit ton brighter than the lower ones.. i cant afford anymore lights i have 11 cfls which only 2 are proper for vegging...did i fuck up?

call my lawyer if you have any problems with my lack of punctuation and thanks in advance for the advice and previous suggestions

some people have used miracle gro with decent success, if you must use it its not the worst thing ever but there are much better options out there.Anything from foxfarm for example(Ocean Forest, Happy Frog or lightwarrior. If you ever)Be careful if you start feeding because MG has time released fertilizers. I know your tripping about cutting holes but fixing them is easy and you can get it to the point where you cant even tell-Id bite the bullet and cut those fkn holes and get that hot air out-If you leave your door open, your going to vent it out into the same room that your intake is drawing air in, which will be warmed because your exhausting into the same room(when you flower especially this is going to cause problems. If you still dont want to cut holes to vent you might need to run an a.c. which are expensive and use a shitload of watts(depending which model but the good ones use 15 amps)As for humidity, if you cant spend the money try hanging wet towels out of a bucket.Itll raise your RH some, but minimal.Keep saving for a digital humidifier.

(Ocean Forest, Happy Frog or lightwarrior. If you ever) was gonna say-if you ever use FFOF, wait till youve already germed in LightWarrior, or some other seedling friendly medium, .Ive gone straight into FFOF with no problems, but ive also burned the shit out of seedlings with it as well-it all depends on the strain.

Fk-forgot to mention your floros-you should be fine with the ones you have but can you just return them and buy t5's daylight tubes from a hydro store? If not they should work fine through the seedling stage but your going to need more light for vegging vigorous, tight noded plants.btw what are you going to flower with?

one thing you can do is run your shower with hot water till the humidty gose up. just keep the bathroom door open. it will take a wile to go up. when it does you will be able to feel it. if you can atach a ducting to a fan then run it into your grow it will go up faster. low humidty is a big problem in the states that get real cold in the winter. i get mine to go from 29% to 30 or 35% doing this. the draw back it it gets real sticky in my apt after a wile of running the shower. it could get pricy if you have to pay for water. i don't its included in my rent. once you plants are established they will help keep the humidty up.
the warmer the air the more morsture it can hold

Thats gotta be in the top 3 worst fkn ideas ive ever encountered. Bobsledding naked without a bobsled seems more reasonable compared to this disgrace. Not only are you wasting a shitload of water bro, you would have to have your fkn shower running the entire Veg process...Sweet idea bro. I can only imagine what other genius methods youve conjured up

You could have easily made your point without being a complete dick.

ok well thanks for the info guys um miracle grow seems to be working fine no burning yet seedlings are getting preety decent sized the first set of real leaves are really starting to come alive temp is staying at around 80ºF and humidity in the closet is around 21% i have plastic baggies over the jiffy pots that i keep misted and is keeping inside the bag at around 50% humidity unfortunatly the bags arent going to last very long i was thinking of fabricating a mini green house type of deal with plastic that i can just place over everything to help keep humidity in it i guess ill see how that goes and yea it would be impossible for me to leave the shower running for humidity because for one my growroom is too far away from my bathroom and i would fuck my landlord if i left the hot water running lol i will continue using miracle grow until i run into problems but as of yet i dont see any reason to switch i have 11 cfls only 2 of which are the right spectrum for vegging ill be using all of them for flowering as well once i finish my top shelf for vegging ill purchase some more 5500k-6500k cfls for the top shelf ill just be using the 2700k cfls for flowering cause i cant afford a ballast for a hps bulb so ill see how the cfls do for my first grow ill hopefully have pics soon

If you do get an extra 20 bucks, I would buy a humidifier. You could easily get your humidity up to at least 50 with one. Not only would your plants be happier, but you and anyone else living with you would be as well. The humidity in my house is exactly the same as yours pretty much. Getting a cheap humidifier makes me feel so much healthier as well as my plants.

yea ill try to pick up a humidifier the only problem i see is if i get a humidifier it wont stay very humid in the closet because i have to keep the door open if i shut the door the temp gets above 90ºF but i guess ill figure out what to do when the time comes to get rid of the baggies hopefully a humidifier works...and unfortunatly i wont be able to post up any pics because my girl saw me typing on here t his morning and flipped her shit because i told her not to tell any of her friends we are growing and her ei am posting it on the internet so shes fucking pissed at me now i actually shouldnt even be posting this cause i told her i wouldnt post on here anymore :( thats the last thing i need to do is piss my girl off when im trying to grow reefer lol but anyways thanks for all the info i know i havent been around long and havent posted much but i due to my girl being paranoid i wont be able to post on here much i have to respect her wishes if i expect her to respect mine you know? i will still be on here quite often i just wont be posting but still anymore info or solutions you guys have ill gladly read them :)

oh and unfortunatly there are no hydroponics stores close to where i live, closest one is over an hour away i was going to purchased some tube floros but i said fuck it cause the cfls are cheaper and much easier for me to get my hands on ill try to purchase some more 5500k cfls soon

If you're vegging, go with the 6500K cfl's
i would go with the 6500k cfls but the only place i have been able to find them is home depot and they come in a pack of twelve for like $35 i cant afford that so the cheapest single or double pack of cfls i can get is 5500k unfortunatly they dont carry the 6500k in single or double pack only packs of 12 :(

i can get away with using 5500k right? what about 9 2700k cfls 4 5500k cfls and 4 3500k cfls? would that be enough of a mixture of light colors to bring my plants from seed to harvest? i will only be flowering 2 at a time (i hope)
