did you check my grow journal for that...growing from 12-12 at the start is ok...thats how us comerical growers turn out harvest in 2.5 months..even with seed..the only problem is you need to keep an out for males an hermies...we only grow sensimella

Growing from 12/12 at the start is just another 'growing technique' like all the others and is used for a specific purpose. Pure Sativas or Sativa dominants, can get a little out of hand with their height if you're not careful and growing them Sea of Green style gets around the problem of having to grow these plants to a full size.

12/12 SOG style growing of pure Sativas and Sativa dominants is a common technique for growing Sativa clones, which gets around the need to veg them to sexual maturity, which usually takes about 6-8 weeks and in the case of a pure Sativa dominant is going to produce some very tall plants if vegged for that amount of time.

Clones grown SOG style with 12/12 lighting from the start simply start flowering when they're genetically ready to start flowering and as they're clones, they'll take on the genetic age of the mother, so if the mother plant is 6 weeks old, the clone is also 6 weeks old, which means you'll only need to veg them for a further 2 weeks until they're ready to flower. This helps to keep the overall height down as you're not vegging them for as long as you would do normally and the yield you lose by the removal of the extra vegging time is made up by the fact that you're growing SOG style, which is lots of small plants, rather than a few big ones.

There are many growing techniques for this plant and a 12/12 clone SOG is simply one of them, designed to get around the height problems with pure Sativas.

I see little point in doing this from seed by the way as you have none of the advantages and all of the disadvantages, 12/12 SOG style growing is really intended for clones - not for seed.

I smell a lot of BS from the first few post in response to ur question. I HAVE placed a seedling under 12/12 from about 10days till end, results were it flowered just fine, showed hairs after about 20 days of 12/12 and finished around day 60. it yeilded less than 1oz but it was still pretty decent smoke. I decided to reveg this plant just to see how much better the results were vs the first flowering and I must say so far shes doing quite well...

some things i didnt like was that since i sent it straight into flower it didnt have enough time to grow any secondary branches, so it didnt have any cola's only small nugs, it woulda turned into one large cola but I topped it early on and it began to bush out, but not as much as I'd like'd it to, and it stretched like crazy so I had to keep moving my lights around so I wouldnt burn it..

edit: oh yea, It was a sativa from seed...maybe thats why it stretched like mad, but it didnt get over 3ft tall

with sativa strains they can take up to 16 weeks to fully develop and 12/12 from seed can produce 1gram per watt even with high powered clf's.

they will not grow as big but you have to top them or scrog lol.

i am doing this grow now.

I may be wrong about this but i think 12/12 from seed will produce more males.
In my 1st grow I used 12/12 from seed on 3 plants, all were male.
Next grow I used a 24/0 light cycle in veg with 4 plants, 1 male and 3 females.
My opinion is 24/0 is the way to go in veg.
If height is an issue then veg for a short time, 2 or 3 weeks.
