hi guys, 5 weeks in to my first grow and i think things are going pretty well, ive been using hps for 15-17 hrs a day since starting, was just wondering when to start the flowering stage, plant is def female and about 2 and a half feet tall, flowers have already appeared but look immature, is this the time to start flowering stage or is it normal to see females on the branches during veg? any help would be much appreciated, cheers!

thanks for the help guys, will start flowering stage asap, the max height i can move my light to is 6ft, hope there's enough space towards the end! il get a lend of a digital camera and post some pics of progess, just wish i hadn't wasted my time trawling through endless shite grow sites which are really just ads for books, looks like i found you in time, this is a great site and once again thanks!

Why did you say to go with 24-48hrs of straight dark and then go to 12/12? I have never heard of that. An honest question, not trying to be a dick or anything.

i agree - flower now! i waited 5 weeks and it just turned into a beast! i had to keep bending to keep from running out of room for it. maybe you have lots of space and then it might not be such an issue. i suppose it depends on the strain as well. i read in a book that if you do 48 hrs of darkness before 12/12 it will convince the plant it's time to flower and speed flowering time up. don't know if that is true. good luck!
