I've never grown a plant before of any sort. Always been interested in growing marijuana but just recently decided to try. Ive read and read and read everything i can on the web buteverytime i think ive got something down i read the opposite on some other site.

So... what i want to know is.

1. What is a good setup for me to start with? i want something resonably simple but something that still produces high quality stuff.

2. Since im growing in my closet is there anything special that it will require for me to succeed.

3. how important is humidity/temp ive read things that could go either way so its up in the air for me.

4. hydro or soil?

I only want to grow about 5 or 6 plants and the eqip. i already have is
3 20inch flouecent lights (and everything to hang them)
1 humidifier
1 light timer
1 electronic temp/humidity gauge
and out of bag seeds
1 bag of MG soil
1 bag of perlite
1 bag of vermiculite

im sure you'll probably need to know more so ask me anything else about it you need to know. Thanks to all who reply and hopefuly im not a noob for long.

well # 1 those fluro lights are only good until the plants are a week or two old max. I you could establish a budget That would help with the suggestions.......

ok well youve got soil and enough light for your 6 plants untill they are a couple of weeks old, hydrogmeter+humidifier but things you dont have #1 pots for your plants (I would start in beer cups then 2 weeks after they break soil right to 5gal buckets) #2 you need to have an area to grow!!! any details on grow area/box/closet/cabinet

Its going to be in my closet. ITs about 15sq feet. 10 foots ceelings. white walls.

And a light fixture that i made at work that id like to put HO compact fluorescent bulbs in.

And thats my next question. CAn i grow good quality plants with fluorescent lights. I plan on making anothier identicle fixture if its worth it all in all giving me 6 compact fluorescent lights for about 4 plants or less depending on how many females i get.

#1 put the light closer and when you repot put the soil level 1" from the bottom of leaves ( I can see some stretching) Your light fixture is good but I would putmore sockets.... at least 4 anyway 3 is ok. and make another. Also in order to fit that light with 10ft ceilings ur space is much bigger than 15sq ft. what aree the dimensions 10ftX?X?

with the size of your closet I would say to buy 1 400w hps light in order to take full advantage of the space and produce high end bud.

I had a grow in a 12x20x8 ft room using 50 4ft 4 bulb fluro ballast the same as urs but with 4 fluro tubes in each and was thouroghly dissapointed.. buds were not dense at all and werent very potent. That 3 CFL fixture in a contained box with your 3 lil plants would produce better bud .

ok the closet is kind of weird shapped. it makes somewhat of a L shape. the part of the closet where the plants will be is (and i actually got out the tape measure ) 8'x39"x32" so its actually smaller that i thought. and after looking at the cfl grow threads i had planned on just using something like 2 extesion cords with 4 sockets each with cfl bulbs and each at about 2000 lumens..... will that work anybetter?
