new to growing pot

well i will give anyone the specs and then im open to any input ppl can give me..........im trying to grow (1) plant just for starters..........im growing it in a closet (not very big its relitivly smalll) a lamp ( now just for one plant my friend told me i can use a u.v lamp that are used to keep iguana's warm is this tru????) a small pot (it has draining holes for the water to escape) seed's ( now i acuired a reg seed which i heard is garbage weed but is it possible if you take care of it to get really good weed because my friend planted one and now its turning up haze and its looking really good) o yea and is regs really like skunk ( which contains alot of seeds) o yea my friend who has grown haze , master kush , and has a white widow on the way will be supplying me after my plant is 3 weeks old with a mix that contains water , plant food , and i belive sum type of ph balance( is this good) i also have enriched soil but not very high ph ( i heard it can turn your soil very acidic which isnt good for the plant i beleive) a fan for ventilation........... can anyone give me a light cycle like how long the plant has light and how long with out................... all right anyone with any input on the seeds the way i grow how can i better things would be great...........il try en post a pic of seeds i have.......thanx

First off, don't just grow one plant at first unless you know it's a female. Start 4 and keep the strongest female to bud if you only want one plant. Personally, I'd try to get a cutting from your friend and that would save you some trouble. Also, get a better light. Sounds like you could use a 100watt-250watt High Pressure Sodium light, but if you can't afford it, at the very least get a full spectrum compact fluorescent. Next, PH is very important so be sure to use neutral soil, not just dirt from your back yard. Fans and ventilation are very important so do the best you can with that. As far as light cycle, I start mine with a 24 hour cycle for 2-3 weeks, than 18 on/ 6 off until you want to flower, than 12/12 until they're ready. Good luck and keep us posted. o thanx for the post m420......... 4 seeds you say ....... can you give me any input on my seeds i got it out of a quater ounce i got yesterday but it was full of seeds 22 of them i believe does this mean its garbage weed???? o yea my friends plants are looking great when you say "cuttings" ya want me to ask him to cut a branch off??? can i really just plant that in the soil????....... could i get a small full spectrum compact fluorescent from a local depot store and will it be expensive????...........yes i will be buying all natural soil........thats for your input on the light cycle.........anything you could input on with my questions would be great

o yea on the germination of the seeds i have to get a bowl clean it place paper towels in it damp it with clean water (room temp) then put paper towel over it......... wait 24 hours then plant it is this correct????..........im going out today to get any equipment im missing........i cant wait to start

il be going to my friends house to get stoned and relay info on how to grow our plants...... hopefully i can get a master kush branch off of him so that i can grow myself or just use my seeds...........keep ya posted

You will want to wait longer than 24 hrs. After about 3 days the seeds should have a root coming out. Then plant the seed.

well after a smoke my friend and i had a long talk about growing and things of that nature he taught me many things. his master kush is locking really good but he seems to be having a problem im the center of the leaves there seems to be sun spots or dried out parts at the very top of the plant where the leaves are closest to the lamp. could the lamp be causeing this or is it the fertilizer or something different. i havent got a chance to get the lamp i need because my friends was out and she has the car so i was unable to go to a depot store.(also can i actually get a 100 watt flurescent lamp from a home depot or wallmart????) once these factors are takin care of i will start growing my plant . i will also start a journal on here so anyone else can see my fault and how things are going with some pics as well.......after my plant mature's my friend said that i can take it his house and he will take care of it since he has alot more equipment than i do...........any input on this would be great.............o yea can anyone give me input on my seeds..............keep ya posted

first thing tommorrow i will go out and get the nessesary things i need

-lamp(100-250 watt where can i get one??)

-good soil (probally from home depot)

-a pot ( relitivly small with drainage holes for water)

-seed ( i have but can anyone input on them)

-water(of course)

this is basically what i need to get tommorrow so hopefully i can get all of this any input will be great SOME ONE GIVE ME INPUT ON THE SEEDS I HAVE WILL I GET GARBAGE WEED????..............keep ya posted

The seeds you have aren't garbage unless the weed it came from is garbage. A cutting is a rooted branch from a mother plant (one you know is female). Chack out the Widow Makers grow guide that is posted above for all your growing answers. You can get a 125watt full spectrum compact fluorescent from a local hydro store or online. Expect to pay about $150 for a reflecter and the bulb. Or look into a 250watt High pressure sodium. Good luck.
