al, i've actually heard of the birth control thing from highly reputable sources. i have not tried it, and have no oppinion on the matter, one way or another. but, if you notice, there are some things that ALL reference guides mention. one of which is mh in veg.

i do not make this stuff up babe.

kp, that really is a tidbit of bullshit. It even suggests use of birth control pills for feminising plants- known to be good for producing pregnant girlfriends but not much else.

If the rest of the suggestions are as good as the last, I wouldn't take any of them seriously.

ever heard of ethrel? you are out of your league mister. :peace::joint::joint:

please prove your argument.
thank you.

here's how i do it. call me crazy but i have 20 years under my belt. not as much as others, and i learn more EVERYDAY, but i feel i've picked up a few things here and there. if i knew only what i knew 10 years ago i would be better off.

c'mon al; can you honestly not contribute?
kp, I did. I have 'done the experiment' as it were by exposing seedlings to HPS and not getting a disproportionate number of males.

Your result, 60% male under HPS, is not statistically significant, unless you've gotten the same result a few hundred times. If you got 60% male out of 10 seeds, that's really not at all far out of the norm for all growers by all lighting means, which is 50/50.

holy crap! i though i was the only one who picked seeds according to that chart!! well, i geuss that's another yes to whether the chart is right or wrong. i was skeptical, but 18 of 20 being female, in a perpetual setup, not all at once....

hmmmm

thank you for the factual experience. :peace::joint::joint: it is appreciated.

Your highly reputable sources would be wrong. Birth control pills for humans do NOT induce femininity in cannabis plants. That's wives' tale stuff, up there with ye olde 'nail-thru-stem for extra potency.'

there are some things that ALL reference guides mention. one of which is mh in veg.
Sure, but that's because most herbaceous plants (not just cannabis) grow shorter internodal lengths in veg mode with a bluish spectrum, NOT because MH has any influence on the sex of the plant.

It's worth noting that I've been running my vegging mothers under a 400HPS for the last 7 years.

in the last 3 months i've planted 10 roadtrip. i have 6 confirmed males. 1 confirmed female. 3 unknown as of yet.
6 goldenseed mega-mix. 5 confirmed female. 1 male.
6 raft. 5 confirmed female. 1 unknown.
i have 6 ppp x ww just germing. i've heard the ww were predominantly male. it will be a few weeks yet for those.

i could just be lucky. i usually only get 1 or 2 males a year outdoors when i grow 15+ plants. i have NO idea why. i'm trying to grow numerous males this year for pollen selection. i'm having difficulty doing it.

i did not do this once; i ran several beans under hps. the average was 60% the highest was 90% (first run, high temps, had it fixed before the second trial)

no, i dare say i have not done this a few hundred times, but, i have comparatively grown hps and mh. those were my results, which are indeed Factual.

no sarcasm, no BS, just a question(i'm getting ready to change), why? is not MH better for veg. i have shop lights and CFL's mixed at the moment. i was wanting to go to MH. would HPS benefit me? serious question. :peace::joint::joint:

how does that have anything at all to do with male/female ratios? mothers are what they are. if you get a female to go 100% male, let me know, i'll make you a millionaire.

ever heard of ethrel?:mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen::peace::joint::joint: i'm pretty sure you could do a whole plant. where's my mill? j/k. love ya.

i think this thread has been answered. Hey KP, wanna go out back and burn one? :blsmoke:

you read my mind. let's go.
Yep, with you...

but... before we go... one more from that page, just cos it's astonishing:

To achieve 100% female plants is to expose young seedlings for several hours to an atmosphere of Carbon Monoxide. It doesn't hurt the plants, but it could kill you.
The DEA obviously wrote that instruction.

it is amazing how few people know to discern co2 fro co. the correct statement should have been carbon DIOXIDE.

i see this on the news alot. all the carbon dioxide from the gas guzzlers causing global warming....

gotta love typos and ignorance. without them, i'd have nothing to do.

nite al
