When you go from veg to flower is there anything special you need to do besides change the light and go to 12/12? I decided to start flowering my plant this morning at 6am. Its been under 24/7 light. Im using cfls. All i did was change the 6500k for 2700k. 5-23w. Then i got to thinking. What should you start the cycle with? The light period or dark period? Should i have just waited till tonight to turn the 6500k lights off and then in the morning start with the 2700k? or does it not matter?

what nutes are best? I cant order any online and there is no hydro store anywhere near me. I live in a tiny ass town. All i have is walmart and menards.

every fertilizer will have an npk rating on it npk is nitrogen phosphorus and potassium you want a high phosphorus for flowering, use schultz 10-15-10 the good thing to know is use half recommended dose on your plants. i would also just do some reasearch start in the growfaq i studied everything i could on the internet and books and movies and more experienced growers in my area for a little over a year before i started.

if its gonna bother u when to do the light period dark period etc when switching, just leave them in the dark for 24 hours THEN start the 12/12

You can start 12/12 anytime. The only thing that really changes are the feedings. Your going to want some type of bloom nute once flowering takes hold.

Ill prolly use the schultz stuff. Im using schultz soil right now so im sure ill be able to find the schultz nutes somewhere. I spend atleast a couple hours a day here on RIU reading and learning about growing. This site is awesome. I just couldnt find if it mattered if you started the 12/12 cycle with the first 12 being dark or light.

The only thing that has to change is the photo period.

I treat my girls like they are in veg all the way up until they are finished stretching and colas form. I start with the high phosphorous during week 3 and give them another shot during week 5. There are some sativas that will keep going if you keep giving them a lot of nitrogen so it is strain dependent, but if you want your girls to produce you should keep them green until at least the end of the 5th week on an 8 week cut.

listen here pappy, probably the most important thing you need to do is ph your feed/nute water and the runoff. Soil range is 6.8-7.1. any generic soil with nutes in it is dangerous and the are quadrillions of stories about them.

and did you say you were switching from 6500k to 2500 k for lighting?
I will walk you through this-is a special time in a girl's life and her needs change. dealing with the generic walmart nutes can work but understand they are meant for heavier fruit band flower bearing plants like tomatoes and sunflowers.
