My sprouts are about 1 1/2 to 2 inches tall right now. I'm watering everyday when the soil gets dried out and leaving them under CFLs for 18-24 hours a day. One is looking okay but its got a purple stem (I need to start pH'ing my water) and the other is a little crappy looking. So here are some questions:

1. When should I look to transplant these plants? They are in party cups as seen in the pictures, so when will they need more room to grow?

2. When should I start giving them fertilizer? And how much?

3. Am I safe to sometimes leave them under the CFLs for 24 hours? I usually try to give them 18/6 but sometimes its more than that...

4. Where can I get some chemicals to raise/lower pH? And where do I get something to measure pH?

1.You'll want to transplant as soon as the roots are rootbound ( showing through the bottom of the cup you know when they have no more room to grow )

2.Most people don't give ferts until their a 3-4weeks old

3.Go get a timer

4.You can get ph testers at garden shops, the internet, you know just look around

5. you can get some at pet stores, hydro stores same with 4. just look around

Thanks man. Heres the problem. My cups are red and you can't see through them. I have no way of knowing when the roots are at the bottom of the cup...

you got holes in then right? Well just kinda look through the holes and see if you can see some roots if their not already coming out of the holes

I'm sure you'll figure it and the plant will STOP growing most of time when rootbound

you can get the ph up and down and test kit at a fish store or walmart fish department.

dont give ferts until 4-5wks

and leaving the light on for 24hrs is alright even tho in some cases its makes plants stretch more

im sure the roots have reached the bottom of the cups if not they will within a couple of days, you might want to transplant them soon

Sweet. Thanks a lot guys. Since my plants are growing bigger, do you think the two CFL's I have on each will be too little light? Should I get some more bulbs?

you got two CFL's on how many plants and how many watts r these CFL's?

You will have to get more light especially come flowering

Looks like it's in a peat/potting mix. If it is, forget about the pH. The peat is acidic and your tap water is probably just slighly alkaline...so you should be cool.

That plant is nowhere near needing transplanting..not are the roots hitting the bottom of the cup. if you pulled it up now, the root would be just slighlly longer than the plant stem. You should be good to go in that cup for 3 weeks or so. When you want to check to roots to see if it's time to transplant (the roots should be starting to "wrap" around the bottom of the cup), water the plant/dirtball...wait a bit, and then ...with your palm over the top of the dirtball and the stem of the plant between your ring and middle finger...gently turn the cup upside down and the rootball will slide out of the cup where you can look at it.

BUT BE CAREFUL.

More light means a bigger plant and more bud at harvest. Too little light means a lanky plant that will have few budsites and that will yield very little.

True that BeenThereDneThat. K-Town seems to get ahead of himself somtimes. all my stems were purple too when they sprouted I wouldnt worry about it. Could be just the strain
